Picasa has just changed their free photo storage rules; my already-used count dropped from 400 MB to just 30 MB (out of an available 1GB.) Biggest benefit comes if you are signed up for G+. Then, photos up to 2048 x 2048 pixels don't count towards the used total. (Similar to Panoramio, where photos added to its GE layer do not use up your alloted free space.)
