    There are numerous photos of the sculpture online; I don't see anything wrong with it: http://www.tbd.com/articles/2011/08/the-mlk-memorial-is-done-here-s-a-photo-65267.html

    People seem to get so wound up over these memorials. IIRC, many freaked out over the Vietnam War memorial at the time it opened; now it's universally praised.

    The Park Service would have had to borrow development funds from China anyway!!
    But, yes, this is a major precedent!! China is on the Washington Mall...in granite!!!
