    Still find it hard to get used to how, in the US, it's the person who receives the call who pays. Here in Australia, it's the one doing the calling who pays.

    The downside of that is, if you need to call someone who only has a mobile (cell) phone rather than a landline, it costs you more for the call. The upside is that you are not paying for unwanted calls.

    In India initially we had to pay for the incoming calls also. Later on all incomings were made free and only the outgoings are charged. Once this regime was adopted there was a sudden surge in cell phone users. Currently there are more than 900 million cellphone users in the Country.
