Further on the topic of creating community through playing #Ingress, here in #Toronto, discussion has begun between the local #Resistance and #Enlightened members about the four unclaimed portals on the Toronto Islands.
They remain unclaimed because they are only accessible via ferry which does run year-round but costs several dollars per trip.
Also, they are spread over several kilometres so require a bicycle which is difficult on the unplowed biker paths during the Canadian winter.
We are proposing to have staged battles.
The format would be each team gets to take over two of the four portals uncontested.
Then the battle is on to take over a third and create a control field.
There would be four iterations starting with the lower levels and working up.
I.E. Level 1 & 2 players would compete first then restart with levels three and four and so on.
A trip to the islands makes an incredible, inexpensive family outing. The day would end with a huge BBQ of course.
In the meantime people could enjoy the beaches, rides and restaurants not mention the nature all in full view of downtown Toronto.
We are wondering if we could get some sort of sanction or support from Google Community Managers (CM) and make this an annual event.
What say you Ingress community?

For the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial, both factions have agreed to keep it neutral ground. Sure portals trade back and forth, but we keep it friendly and always available for lower level players to level up, considering there are so many so close together.
ReplyDeleteDo it...and give play by play reports!
ReplyDeleteJust like the canadians to suck the fun out of raiding thise islands. I hope the Enlightened take all of Toranto while the Resistiance are having fun in their mock battle.
ReplyDeleteIf the #NHLlockout were over, I'm sure we'd see Toronto a lovely shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteBrad McClaren that's great news.
ReplyDeleteSome sights are too holy to fight over, especially for a game. It wasn't something the locals got over overnight, and each time we go there we don't act out our typcial rivalry silliness. There are plenty of other places for that, but the Memorial is very, very special for so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteJoe Philley keep your eye on #OpFloorMop over the next couple of days... we're just getting started. Thanks for the tips and advice.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait....I eat this stuff up!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what will be limited for viewing. So far I've done a lot using the Google Communities, and I think some may be locked. Still, I have some public postings (including my meeting with Choctaw Oklahoma Resistance earlier today), and will have more on the day of. Enjoy! LA RESISTANCE LIVES ON!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea Brad McClaren keep the community updated on this.
ReplyDeleteUpdated? Participate! Everyone can join in the Op, so long as you're resistance! If you're outside the OKC area, email me for the basics (with a pic of a portal you hold so I know you're legit #Resistance ) and I'll fill you in on the basics... but you've got less than 48 hours to do so. #OpFloorMop is already in motion, so check out the thread with what's already been done. We've even had 2 secret agents from Las Vegas in town agree to help us out, plus interest from outside Resistance communities!

ReplyDeleteWould love to Brad McClaren , but I don't have an invite code yet. I'm trying to get myself up to speed so when my lucky day comes I can hit the portals running. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteJust follow the hashtag for the next few days, we'll post our exploits, shenanigans, and goingson. When the time comes, and you get your code... go Resistance.. thank me later. You might try following the #ingressinvite thread, as activation codes get posted there from time to time by generous folks... just have the app loaded and your phone within inches, as they go very, very quickly. That's how I got my start. I also won a competition, and passed that code onto Rey Angeles, so they're still out there.

ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, love the glasses. Thanks Andrew Richardson
ReplyDeleteat the beginning of the music video. Joe Philley just made my year. Thanks again Joe
ReplyDeleteyeah!
ReplyDeleteWelcome aboard Adam Radel, the #Resistance has been waiting.
ReplyDeleteSouth Park - La' Resistance
ReplyDeleteIt is a great song.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't you be in training, Adam Radel? Lol, congrats! ABOVE ALL ELSE, HAVE FUN! #Ingress is a game where you get what you put into it.
ReplyDeleteJust recieved my invite last night thanks you so much ! Glad to be joining the fun!
ReplyDeleteWould Niantic be willing to set up private games, say in a state park? A lot of tweaking down to expedite necessary leveling would be needed.
