So it was a fake set and Hank's given them the slip.....Any ideas where he's headed ?

Or it's not a fake set and the guy who is trailing Hank is creating a cover story for his masters after falling under shaper influence
ReplyDeleteDarrell Jones great idea!
ReplyDeleteSome place connected to the mounds or Afghanistan or he has found a new
ReplyDeleteplace with similar traits to those
I wonder if he's following one of the old trade routes.
ReplyDeleteanne brooks silk or opium ?
ReplyDeleteI don't know which routes. I guess if someone overlaid either old trade routes or the route Alexander the Great took on a map and looked at places we know Hank has definitely been they might find something.
ReplyDeleteYou may well be on to something there
ReplyDeleteIt happens occasionally :)
ReplyDeleteI'm crap at mapping stuff or I'd do it.
how to get invite codes?
ReplyDeleteOr copper trade route +Linda Besh, (Google+)
ReplyDeleteCan some body send me an ingrees invite to www.carlin123@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI would start with Alexander The Greats route, especially through Afghanistan. The book mentioned in those documents was about his campaign and then maybe overlay trade routes onto that and see if anything shows up.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I'll Google a few things later but I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to find a well documented route that connects those places. Very little in the game turns out to be random.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he's headed to Tulsa. The Enlightened could sure use the help here!
ReplyDeleteEmmett Lollis now 24 hours from Tulsa is stuck in my head. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteEmmett Lollis is there any thing in the area that might interest Hank ? I know hes got his own agenda but he really could be anywhere. anne brooks JoJo Stratton Tony Benson and Darrell Jones have some great ideas.
ReplyDeleteI hear the French have people working the area.....could Hank be using that as a front to slip in ?
ReplyDeleteJoe Philley In downtown we have a place called "Center of the Universe". Not a lot of people know about it but it has a circle on the pavement, if you stand in the center of the circle you get a ghostly reverb sound that's pretty amazing. There is some great architecture there including a several story column with a cloud on top and it's next to the tallest building in Oklahoma (BOK Tower). I would bet it has the highest XM level in the region.
ReplyDeleteHere's a little info, I'm checking for other potential locations too: http://onlyinoklahoma.wordpress.com/2008/01/03/journey-to-the-center-of-the-universe-in-oklahoma/
ReplyDeleteIf we trust his discussions with ADA then we know that he's going someplace where there is apparently no civilization, but that does have large XM concentrations. He hopes to find the remains of previous civilization on said spot.
ReplyDeleteSo, the question is - How do we track such a place without walking there with a scanner in hand to see the XM? How does Hank intend to "follow the XM maps"?
Apparently the NIA has access to information that we agents do not.
"Follow the trade routes" is not a bad idea. However, given what Hank has said that wherever you find a monster, that's where you'll find a treasure, the real key may be in ancient mythology rather than in ancient trade.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Indiana Jones when you need him?
Both of Hanks' examples were Greek myths. The Golden Fleece and The Trojan War (i.e., The Iliad). It's not much to generalize from but doing so suggests that The Odyssey is a likely mythological source. It tells all about a journey from one place to another. In between, there are a lot of monsters: Harpies, Cyclopes, Sirens. "Where you find monsters, you find treasure." Not gold and silver, necessarily, but the underpinnings of civilization.
What do we find if we literally try and follow Odysseus on his journey from Troy back to Crete? What "treasures" are there strewn between those two endpoints that might have been worth protecting thousands of years ago and that would be vanished (or simply taken for granted) today?
If Hank's theory is correct then "following the XM map" would mean "following the trail of the monsters".
Was Hank in Africa? I somehow had the idea that he was in the Amazon or a similar place. In any case, modern air travel means that he could still be on his way to anywhere once he made his getaway.
ReplyDeleteAfrica has its own set of monsters, and we don't need to go north to Egypt. Adamastor, for instance. The Cape of Good Hope is the sort of place that would fit Hank's definition of a "treasure" and also be a place where you could possibly find the remains of a previous civilization in an unexpected place. Given the lore of the game, the XM concentrations would end up being what drew the Dutch to South Africa; the diamonds being only the most obvious treasure.
Good sleuthwork, Tony Benson :)
ReplyDeleteLinda Besh did they turn out to be places Devra had passed through?
ReplyDeleteIf Hank traveled to Africa and he slipped away but he stayed in Africa, then "following the XM map" would mean following the portals. Maybe the brute force method is to try Tony Benson's approach but look all over the continent for unusual concentrations of portals, particularly in places that are NOT full of people like they normally would be.
ReplyDeleteScott Schultz like your thinking! and the others on here too, but something you said earlier made me wonder - the Mounds were a site of an Ancient urban/people center but today not as populated, so, I like the combo of finding a site that in ancient times had a lot of people and today (via the ADA discussion) does not have as many people - if that is the case - how to narrow now (for instance - here is a site with just a few of the many lost places ;) http://www.historvius.com/ancient-cities/fr247 )
ReplyDeletealso - the assorted places and cultures Hank has studied, are they all approximate same times, or different times? If different times, has anyone looked at the order of his visits and the dates of these ancient sites... meaning is he maybe traveling through time, but physically? (not sure I am wording that right)
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting idea, JoJo Stratton Hmm...

ReplyDeleteGrist for the mill. :)
nice - "Here be dragons (or monsters"
ReplyDeleteHmm... If the NIA thinks that Hank was in the Congo then maybe this entry is more relevant at this point than I thought. Perhaps it's not that well known in the ARG community yet:
ReplyDeletehttp://thomasgreanias.com/coded-map-of-ingress-island-cracked-conrad-yeats-and-hank-johnson-spotted-in-cape-verde/
If you're asking, "who the heck are Thomas Greanias and Conrad Yeats?" then I can tell you that the activity on the Greanias stuff has been centered in Seattle, WA so far. While it looks a bit odd, it's official lore as verified by Joe here and independently by NianticOpsBernini at the google discussion groups. In any case, if Hank is not actually in Cape Verde, that location has something to do with his ultimate destination.
