Resistance Pilipinas Ingress Field Report: Operation Big Blue Tatsulok (02 March 2013)

What started as a joke went into a full-blown operation that required our agents to travel more than 100km on more than 1 occasion.

We had good laughs back in January about having 2 portal submissions approved that were located on the sea and the other near the crater of an active volcano. Going those two portal, while not completely inaccesible and goes without saying mildly dangerous, seriously post a challenge to capture and maintain. The portals were "Manila Bay P.I." (located about 600m offshore from the famed Navotas Fishport) and "Cruz en el Taal" (located along Daang Kastilla trekking route at the Taal Volcano Island). They are more than 65km apart and what's next is the inception of Operation Big Blue Tatsulok (Filipino for 'triangle').

4th week January. The operation was drafted by ArginusPrime and all we're missing was a third portal to create a large CF over Metro Manila. He was opting for the inclusion of "Kamay ni Jesus Garden Park" in Lucban, Quezon which was roughly 118km away from Manila by road. Notably, the road to the that area are narrow and goes around Mt. Banahaw, meaning it will be challenging portal to get to and will likely be good vertice for the operation. A proposal was made to include one of the four Corrigedor portals to create a second triangle. Then after the plan got bigger and bigger.

1st half, February. We agreed to setup recon missions as not to alert the Enlightened. I ( Sparkrush) had the opportunity to go to Taal Volcano. I didn't make the capture as I was a high-profile agent and capturing Taal would cause a commotion that would lead the other faction to believe that we have something big coming up and we would want that to happen. Anyway, I just hacked for portal keys. Meanwhile, Agents cicifroufrou and cyferion presented to go to Lucban, Quezon. As they were both on L4's back then, the capture didn't make people go crazy thus making it seem like they were on vacation. They also hacked for portals keys. We reported back with our findings especially if the area was hard on cellphone signal reception.

16 Febraury. An impromptu mission to Manila Bay portal was put into action by our regular Intramuros farmers. Joining me was Agents windam27, Maidee, zethmock and Densho. We had to rent a small boat to go the location of the portal. A capture was made that literally enraged the Enlightened -- I can't blame them as spoofing is a major issue with everybody here and a portal this difficult to go to will merit suspicion from them. Anyway, we surveyed the area and returned with portals keys in hand. We also had chance to explain our side to the other faction when we met them later that day at Intramuros (Heck, we really had to take pictures to show them if they asked) and they were graceful to hear and believe to what we said.

2nd half, February. After the capture of Manila Bay, Operation BBT was put forth into the community. Since the plan got bigger and bigger, we had other portals surveyed and captured at very discrete times since then. We planned the ops to happen March 2nd. Team assignments were made for efficiency and easier coordination. We had Team North take care of links going from Malolos, Bulacan and Angeles, Pampanga; Team Manila Bay would be in charged of the links from that portal; Team South taking care of portals at Taal Volcano and Lucban, Quezon; and Team Metro to clean up fields and links that would impede the operation. We asked the community to avoid linking a week before BBT day. We also had a couple of problems regarding rouge blue agents but we devised this plan to make the problematic portals/links, in local terms, make them "juicy". We created more links and fields from that portal, while counter-intuitive, would lure Enlightened agents to take them because of the high AP gain from destroying them.

02 March. We started as early as 6am. Agents Eugene and Alucardd can't join us that day but they still provided cover and diversion to the ops by starting early at portals, although not included in the ops, that was sure to make the Enlightened paranoid. First up was the capture of Taal Volcano by Team South. Team Metro was also starting their work "cleansing" Metro Manila. By around 7am, Team Manila Bay and Team North threw their links and created a field that didn't alert the Enlightened. Team South moved to Lucban while Team North moved to Angeles. Team Manila Bay was instructed to join Team Metro in blowing up green links. By 11am, Team North and Team South was in position but cannot throw links getting the "crosses existing link" error. Team Metro was hard at work -- they set up mobile Intel sites to see problematic links. That day was even made worse due to to appearance of new portals and everybody was happily capturing and linking them. We also had operators on stand by then and they were directing and coordinating attacks. By 2pm they links to be made by Team South were cleared and they immediately threw them creating a cool control field but the operation was not done, not until Team North made their links. Enlightened agents were then on stand by at Quezon City on their usual farming business. Team Metro planned an attack on multiple fronts to confuse them but they still fought valiantly. Soon after Team North threw their links when they saw the opportunity.

Operation: Big Blue Tatsulok was finished! Resistance Philippines created a control field of 29,103,227 MU's, bumping global MU to Resistance 54600081 - Enlightened 18802170 (as of 3:22 PM March 02 2013). That's more than double the Resistance MU's since we started the operation. Unfortunately, the field didn't last very long (we're looking at a spoofer issue), but what we did accomplish was already a victory.

Team North: axsyon, cydoki, kurochan

Team South: Rakuichi, zethmock, Sparkrush

Team Manila Bay: pnoy, windam27, Maidee, Tzelowitz

Team Metro: ArginusPrime, Akire, Whizzard, TheUnicorn, cicifroufrou, cyferion, DeathScythe, jomarx, warprek

Support: Alucardd, Eugene, wastedNeil12, KerstynGaia, Legionaire, heylookitscj and to all you smurfs out there who tuned in and gave way to make this operation a success! (Sorry po sa hindi ko nabanggit!)
