Operation: Truly Ubiquitous, Long, and Idyllic Field

Having level 8 players to spare, able Resistance Philippines players decided to create as much level 8 portals we could for farming purposes. After putting up a few portals, we noticed that Enlightened activities would increase a bit and long green links would be created. Slightly amused, we decided to test out this observation by meeting up more often than usual and targeting enemy portals we don’t usually bring down while openly discussing fake operations in the COMMs. Sure enough (or perhaps by some weird coincidence), long green links started to appear with a lot more frequency than what had been previously observed. We decided to take it one step further.

Nearly every night for a week, we went back to certain heavily-guarded portals and took them down, sometimes even multiple times in a night. Coupled with a few out of the way portals, the COMMS started buzzing, with some Enlightened players jokingly asking outright what ops were we planning. Then, we initiated a COMM blackout, asking all Resistance players to stay off COMM until dawn -- simply because. When team members privately asked off COMM what the ops was, we told them that the blackout was the op. There was no big operation.

We were pleasantly surprised to see a green field in the middle of Metro Manila the same night of our COMM blackout. Was it a response to our activities? We’ll never know for sure, but we’d like to think we had some influence on the creation of that field. At any rate, it provided us with an idea on what we’d do next. Cover their green field with an even bigger blue field.

That weekend, we planned the final stage of the week-long PsyOp; we identified the necessary portals and started off early Saturday morning. As we were on our way, unforeseen circumstances lead to the green field going down, preventing us from covering it as originally planned. Still, we were en route already so we pushed on. We traveled around 150 to 160 kilometers to upgrade and link to two portals that were roughly 40 kilometers apart (as the crow flies) and linked them both to the farthest northern portal we had, Vintar Dam, which is nearly 460 kilometers away from the farthest vertex of the control field. The control field had an MU count of 4,267,280. One of our team members remarked that it looked like the blade of a sword. It did. It was beautiful.

Thanks goes out to agent Tzelowitz as well, who captured and had put his level 8 resonator weeks ago on the Thirteen Martyrs Tower portal.

We also created another control field at the bottom of this one that had 419,488 MUs.
