Field Report - #OperationKindergartenCop
#OperationKindergartenCop started out as a conversation among the high levels. We’ve had significant success with our large scale ops..but they require operatives to be higher levels for full impact. We were concerned that lower level players in the area wouldn’t feel connected to the larger #TampaEnlightened community. And so #OperationKindergartenCop was born.
The rules are simple. Each team consists of a ward (lower level) and up to two handlers. No more than one 8 per team. The handler has 4 hours to help the ward get as much AP as possible. In order to protect the security of the op, wards had to be either vouched for by a handler or met in person before they could be given the op parameters. We scheduled waves throughout the weekend to meet everyone’s schedule. Each team was required to take and post an AP screenshot when their wave started and within 5 minutes of their wave ending. You could sign up for multiple waves in order to maximize your weekend AP gains.
The operation started with a bang when Team Nightmare came blazing out of the gates. In their 4 hour window the level 7 ward NiGhTmArEz made 150,348 AP with the help of his handler whybordinary. They were inspired to keep going till 3:30 am, when Team Nightmare posted a total AP gain of 400K. Over the weekend he persisted and leveled himself to 8!
The next team up, Team Nuclear Truth had a last minute substitution. The handler Nuclearwaffle was sick. He gave his keys and general plan to whybeordinary, who took the responsibility of helping level 5 QThaTruth. They ran into some issues… a suspected Resistance spoofer required an impromptu meet between whyb and a few resistance agents to sort out . The parking ticket whyb got was a small price to pay for the newly minted level 6 who gained 117,493 AP.
Team Shyly Sinning was our first all female team (handler spee42 and ward Shythugette). During their wave a level 8 resistance farm sprang up. Forgoing pure AP needs, Shyly Sinning raced to the farm and along with swamplord, Eevul and Eevullette (who mobilized in a wave they weren't competing in for the larger mission) decimated the 28 portals. Shyly Sinning then returned to the AP hunt. Eevulette took on an unofficial pre-wave ward and helped spicywiener reach level 6. A side operation was also plotted during this wave – Operation FrustrateFeech. #FrustrateFeech was designed to split the concentration of the territorial Resistance 8s in that sector allowing both teams to gain maximum AP. Spee42 took Shythugette to an awesome gain of 126,115 AP. They also competed in the final wave where they posted another 75,107 gain.
The next wave had an interesting rivalry as handlers Eevul and Eevulette squared off against each other. Team Sheevul (Eevul and Shythugette) started things off with an AP steal by claiming a portal called byTeam EeGr (Eevulette and MrGrue). The rivalry continued hot through the wave, especially when team Sheevul decided to modify their pre-wave plan and play on Team EeGr's planned route. Team EeGr posted an AP total gain of 141,853 for the official ward while team Sheevul took an operation winning 163,909 AP.
Over the course of the operation teams gained 774,825 during their official waves and well over 1.5 million over the weekend. We helped mint a brand new 8, two strong 7’s, and a very active, capable 6 to further our cause. Best of all we included some new faces into our op groups, excited the lower levels who hadn’t heard of the op, and just had a good time. Ingress is what you make of it. We choose to work together to have fun – and enlighten the world.
