My dear Niantic Friends. Here in Siberia (Russia) We had some problems with making long link from Novosibirsk to Bratsk last weekend. This problem was about linking. In Intel map we see that field built by straight lines and links by curved lines (Like they are over the Earth). So we thought that we have to make straight line from Novosibirsk to Bratsk and this line was below link from Kemerovo to s.Trud. (http://www.ingress.com/intel?ll=54.864864,85.920599&z=17&pll=54.864864,85.920599) we tried to make our link from Novosibirsk to Bratsk, but in Novosibirsk we saw "No Linkable Portals" message. This link we could make after destroying link from Kemerovo to s.Trud. After making link we saw that field is below Protal in s.Trud, but Link is above this Portal. So we think that fields on Intel map has to be made by curved lines too. I've attached original map screenshot and how we think it has to be.
