Nice work guys!

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for making Ingress Operation Jellybean's Revenge a huge success.  Chris Begg and Bill Burritt thanks for taking out links in the way of the field.  James Royal thank you for shuttling keys down so that Adam Joseph could make the necessary links.  David Hager thank you for driving out to the middle of nowhere to pick me up and take me out to the last portal when we got a flat tire.  Most of all thank you to Terry Stout for an excellent dinner just a few hours before the field went up, we were wondering how to pass those last few hours when you wrote.
Oh, and to the 107,753 mind units we're protecting this evening...you're welcome.

  1. The lesson learned here is that the resistance can't be trusted, and never invite them out to dinner (and provide them with a coupon) as a sign of goodwill to meet your event co-host...

  2. and if this is revenge over one level 6 portal being taken, that's 30+ miles of driving away from their home, when they took down multiple level 5-8 portals on the way to it(they have to rack up over 120 miles on their round trip), what should revenge for this look like?

  3. kevin sexton yes but it is 30+ miles just for us to go to Walmart. So we are used to the driving

  4. Painful Christine Christopher they don't have many local things up at Edwards?

  5. So, drive 30+ miles to Wal-Mart, and past 3 more Wal-Mart stores, along with 3 target stores, a mall, go another 10 miles past all that and take a portal. On the way you take down many portals. If someone less than 1/3 the distance from that 1 level 6 portal takes it down, you think it deserves revenge? Meanwhile your home portals are on an air force base that has only resistance, and enlightened hasn't got access.

  6. Robert Bowman No our base is located in the middle of nowhere in the desert with the closest off base grocery store a 30min drive away

  7. kevin sexton We live on base, but there are at least 2 enlightened players who have base access, in fact one lives 2 doors down from us. It is not my fault that they have not played. We had a visiting enlightened player from another base this past week and he has turned many of the portals green. We took out portals while running errands yesterday. We had to hit a few stores that are only located near the mall which is many miles farther than the closest Wal-Mart. I'm sorry but we can't hit everything in Lancaster, we also have to go into Palmdale to get everything we need/want. That is why when we go to town we make it an all day event because it takes so long to go to any store. We hit "your" portals in Lake LA every few weeks when we take that route to go visit family. Sorry you think we went out of our way just to put up a field that the enlightened has never tried to do.

  8. Besides that we knew it would be taken down in hours if not mins and had no problem with that as it is part of the game

  9. kevin sexton if this was really about getting revenge then I should probably stop playing and get a new hobby because apparently I'm taking it WAY too seriously.  I have been planning this field for a few months,  trying different portal combinations, looking at where both teams made links that would be in the way etc.  The plan started to really take shape when we brought the 'Geometric Sphere' portal online and decided it would be a good place for a the field.  It was named 'revenge' as a joke not because I was upset that a portal of ours was taken down.   Now, did we drive all over the place yesterday going out of our way to take down links?  Yes we did, and we had fun doing it.  In the meantime we also ran a few errands in town and even wound up getting a flat tire for our troubles.

As for our 'home' portals, yes we live on Edwards AFB which the Resistance has fairly locked down.  When I started playing I met 1 enlightened player on base, we talked for about 5 minutes and went our separate ways.  Shortly after another enlightened player started playing on base, hit a few things and stopped playing.  I never did have a chance to meet him but one of our other players did.  Around the same time one of our neighbors started playing and signed up for the Enlightened.  Unfortunately he has also stopped playing.  Should I stop playing the game because the Enlightened players that come out here stopped as well?  Should I not go into 'your area' because you don't have access to 'mine'?
