    Been there twice now for ingress related fun from St. Louis. A battery backup is always a must with all those portals. : )

    Haha same thing happened to me. That's why I now carry 2 umbrellas with me. 1 for me and an extra for ingressers met in the field.

    A Ziploc works nicely in the rain. Been hacking and capturing in downpours and snow storms without a problem since last year. Desiccant packs are a nice bit of insurance too. 
    BTW - Love the Fieldtrip app, too!
