  1. Joe Philley with all due respect, could you please stop reposting things like this, and actually respond to your userbase's concerns?

We all love ingress, we really REALLY do. But you all are making unpopular changes, and not responding (or in Brandon Badger ´s case, off handedly dismissing) our concerns and feedback.

Please, we beg of you, our dear friends who brought us a game we love, TALK TO US, NOT AT US!

  2. The change helps balance and encourages teamwork. People are only complaining because they want to keep their edge and they don't understand that stuff changes in a beta.

Anyway, have the people complaining forgotten back when all we had were shields and they were something like 1/3rd the power of what we have now? We're still pretty much ahead in power and flexibility, we just need 4 people to make a god portal instead of being able to fortify everything we touch.

I'm fine with the change. It makes it more difficult for individuals to dominate a single portal, but it helps with teamwork and makes life a bit more fair for lower level players.

  3. It has nothing to do with keeping an edge. Both the side that typically dominates and the side that it's typically dominated in my area are extremely upset about this change, and we haven't forgotten what it used to be like, we just don't like how much more difficult this is going to make it in less populated areas, based on our memories of how it used to be. If anything, this will encourage single player destruction of portals because it makes it significantly easier to do by making defense harder to set up. It won't balance anything, and it won't encourage teamwork in areas that struggle to produce it already, it will just make it harder to hold portals against individual agents.
Of course we're understand that things change in a beta test. We also understand that the purpose of a beta test is to get feedback from the testers, so we're giving it. We may be vocal, but that's because this change is a backtrack on the significant improvement they had finally started to make in balancing defense and offense in this game, they made goid progress in improving defense but it was still pretty weighted toward offense and this change swings us even further toward offense again, something that causes significant problems in lower populated areas.
