Many of you may have noticed a lot of large Resistance fields over Arizona last month. While we were anxious to share the details with the world, we did not want to compromise the continuing mission. After a 5 day blitz of activity and millions of MU saved, we are coming forward with the details.
In total, 15 megafields with a cumulative total of over 15 million MU were created.
A special thank you goes out to all of our operatives and @Cowhide( Andrew Keller) for operating the Eye In the Sky that made so much of this possible.
Operation #PaperAirplane - 14-15 Oct
Feeling the need to do something big, several members of the VRM that have become known as The Paper Airplane Gang pulled together in a hangout and after mere hours of backs and forths of pros and cons of various anchors and war stories of past kitings of Phoenix, the wheels were set in motion in the late afternoon of Monday, 14 Oct. Page, AZ was selected as our Northern point, Dateland, AZ for the Southwest and Superior, AZ for the Southeast. Knowing that The Resistance was at the time outnumbered 10 to 2 in the Yuma, AZ area it was deemed imperative that even though the life expectancy of a control field was short, since the resources were available to us that it was our obligation to use them to protect what MUs we could for as long as possible and we made additional plans to field from Page to Yuma to Parker, AZ. This allowed us to cover more of AZ than has ever been done from completely within AZ.
At 1243, 15 Oct, the first of many links of the week were sent across the state! After @Labyrinth( George Shive ) cleared the way and sent links from Yuma to Parker,@DeathLab&@Piyaoyas( Ken Perez ) in Page was able to connect to Parker, making two large nested fields! It took some time and a LOT of gear but agents @Dostovel( Rich Flores ) &@MichelleF( michelle felice) laid waste to essentially the entire town of Queen Creek, AZ, to clear many links from both sides that would block our objective.@CrazyF0XXX( Eli O'Rourke) linked from Dateland to the portal @TommyGUNNZZ( Tom Lopez) prepared in Miami and @Piyaoyas linked to both from Page at 0219 to encompass not only the Metro Phoenix Area but the cities of Flagstaff and Prescott as well.
Later that morning,@Labyrinth was able to acquire a key for Dateland and linked to it from Yuma.@DeathLab&@Piyaoyas Sent additional links between the Page anchors to make 2 more Control Fields over the Arizona desert. In total 1,120,955 MU were protected. Just before 0900, Enlightened agents finally awakened from their slumber under our large blue blankets and were able to destroy our portals in Yuma and Miami.
Operation #ReduceReuseRekite - 16 Oct
As the day began on Wednesday the 16th we couldn’t help but notice that our links from Page, AZ to Dateland, AZ and Parker, AZ were still standing. Immediate plans were made that would Reduce the number of mobile agents, Reuse our existing links and Rekite Arizona.
Matthew Jaworski was dispatched from Casa Grande, AZ to clear some blocking links in the mid afternoon while @Dostovel&@MichelleF were able to clear a blocking link from Superior, AZ before the magic happened!@Labyrinth added nicely to the fields in western AZ through the day.@Piyaoyas redirected the westbound link of Dateland to Parker, AZ to complete two fields, but the big show was happening just North of Tucson.@CrazyF0XXX&@TommyGUNNZZ found themselves in Oracle, AZ with a sweet line up of portals that they connected to the existing Page/Dateland link for a magnificent 4 LAYERS of fields over AZ! Over 4 million MU were protected from 2011 until 2246 when Tucson Enlightened agents were able to destroy the anchors in Oracle. Reports indicate that our efforts coincided with a 4% shift in the Global MU standings.
Operation #HatTrick - 17 Oct
Before our agents were even back from #ReduceReuseRekite , plans were being hatched for Operation #HatTrick . We were not disappointed as the Page-Dateland link continued to hold strong throughout the day and we had the added bonus of Agent @Eravin’s( Bryan K.) sunburst operation #PhoenixRising in central Phoenix occurring just before our megafields were to be erected.
@Dostovel popped a “defensive” link that extended to Colorado from Queen Creek, AZ while @CrazyF0XXX&@Suessified paid another visit to Oracle, AZ to create two more Control Fields over AZ to protect over 2 million additional MU.
Unfortunately, while #PhoenixRising was a resounding success with 72 inbound links making a pin-cusion of Portal Agent 202 in Central Phoenix, an Enlightened agent was able to Jarvis the destination portal just after the kites flew and the combo screenshot was missed by mere seconds! A mission specific SitRep will be forthcoming.
Operation #4PeatFriday - 18 Oct
#4peatFriday started off tense as our plans were put into jeopardy by Enlightened activity near our designated anchor in Camp Verde, AZ for the days operation but luckily our target remained unscathed and Plans B & C were able to be held for another day. Our Dateland, AZ anchor was taken out, but as the days operation involved a trip to Dateland, their was no negative effect.
@MichelleF was able to clear one blocking link for us and the wheels were set in motion. With @CrazyF0XXX&@Suessified in Dateland, AZ and @TommyGUNNZZ in Oracle, AZ it was discovered that a sliver of a Control Field had risen between Sunset Point and Salome, AZ.@Atokanannaj( Danine Dolphin) and @SDolphin( Sophia Dolphin) acted as our Rapid Response Team and cleared the way for the final connection to Camp Verde, AZ at 0036 to save another MILLION MU.
Operation #5Sunrise - 19 Oct
As had become SOP, the drive following our operation allowed for a good brainstorming session and it was decided that the next and final operation (of THIS campaign) would occur Saturday morning. As night transitioned into day, we had to wonder if we had finally broken the Enlightened as we were surprised to see that our Blue Beacon of hope survived past the planned start time of our next operation. Armed with keys collected in both Oracle and Dateland, AZ,@CrazyF0XXX and @Suessified made their way to Camp Verde. Sharing in the early day festivities were @VRMSpiveyGUNNZZ( Living Large) &@VRMSpiveyGUNZZZ( Julie Rogers), dispatched back to lovely Oracle, AZ. As the way was already clear thanks to the #4peat field still standing, there were no blocks to clear and at 0944 additions were made to make a total of 4 layers (and 4+ million MU) of control fields over Phoenix, again. These giant Blue Blankets must be extra comfy as it was 1140 (11 hours total) before the anchor in Camp Verde was finally hit.

After some sightseeing and an early lunch, disrupted by the dropping of their control fields,@CrazyF0XXX and @Suessified went back to Camp Verde to create another field which was shortly destroyed. Undeterred, our agents again recaptured the portal and set up another 4 layers (4.4+ million MU) over Phoenix and the surrounding areas! These fields were able to stand strong and proud for over four hours before succumbing to Enlightened attacks at 1640.
So if you ever wonder why the sky is blue... Ask your local resistance agent.
