This is a short description of the action that has occurred in this region for the past 24 hours. We will post more details as the situation develops.

2013-11-10 06:04 A cross-faction "quarantine" zone has been established over shard #4 following an extremely contentious transfer from West Malaysia and Singapore. Spoofers from both factions, competed with actual agents on the ground to gain control of the shard.

In the past few days, shard #4 has been meandering around in the Malaysian state of Johor. Attempts to control it was sporadic and ineffectual.

Shard #4 was briefly transferred to Singapore by a spoofer on early Saturday evening. However, attempts by Singapore RES and a cross-faction team in Sabah (including a visiting agent from Philippines)  to take advantage of its proximity was foiled when yet another spoofer drew it back into Johor.

At 3AM Sunday morning, Malaysian ENL then linked shard #4 from Johor to multiple portals in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This strategy would increase the chances of the shard following the general direction it was needed to.

Upon its arrival within Kota Kinabalu, a cross-faction team transferred the shard into the Kota Kinabalu suburbs. Then, multi-layered fields were created on top of the closed portal farm that shard #4 was stored in. The operation began at 3AM with the shard's arrival; and ended at 5:30AM.

And so ends Operation Shard Containment...

And begins.. Operation Shard Honeypot: Suspicious agents and attacks within the vicinity of the quarantine will be recorded and investigated.

Further reports will be posted as the situation develops. We have no idea how long this will last or whether we can hold out against the spoofers, but we do know this: it's not really Resistance vs. Enlightened - it's really spoofers against US :)

The author of this report also has a plea to all agents: blame the spoofers and not the factions. Regional and cross-factional relationships should be strengthened because of the spoofers, rather than weaker because of distrust.

On a funnier note to our local players, as well as visitors: You can see the shard "perform" over Foh Sang portals while u enjoy a drink. We ask that you do not touch the shard, or stare directly into it for a long time ;)

  1. GO CROSS-FACTION AWESOMENESS! I love how they collaborated to tell the spoofers "we are watching you, we won't let you ruin this game". Kudos.

  2. Sounds more like a game of "catch the spoofer". I hope all niantic is watching the spoofing that is taking place

  3. It sordda stinks that this event moves more and more in the direction of a planned stalemate. Only because it makes the event pointless(not because we are working together). I'm a huge fan of cross-faction cooperation(read any of my Aqua Faction sitreps). So don't get me wrong ladies and gents. This is an awesome collection of fields, a heck of a statement from the Agents involved, and the Shard Event is an awesome concept. I just think the event as a whole needed a bit more brainstorming. Oh well, live and learn. We'll see what happens. Still <3 you Niantic.

  4. I wander if this was Niantic's plan all along? Operation 13Magnus is really Operation Spoofer Trap.

  5. I cannot imagine a scenario where all of the shards end up in one place. Period. ever. So I am curious how the story will be spun given that fact...

  6. Shay Moore exactly how they planned from the beginning before starting the event.

  7. Not to be rude, but if you think all this was to catch spoofers then you are being silly.

  8. What do you think the endgame was of cross-faction quarantine of the shard, Lucas?

  9. A stalemate, but that's the actions of players(not Niantic), Shay.

  10. This whole thing is to kill off Jarvis, because that's what they planned to do from the start.  And since the ENL wiped Bangkok clean, they couldn't do it there and had to make up crap to off him for good.

  11. Jonne Backhaus Long time no see :) It's been almost a year since I was in Helsinki, meeting you while we were attacking the station portal :D

  12. Arthur Raymond Yeah, its stil on of those cooler memories of playing the game, but its cool to see that someone is doing something about spoofers. I hope you get the message through!

  13. Niantic Project NIA Ops Ingress please, help us with the spoofers! They spoil the game =\

  14. Oh boy...you really think that the Jarvis shards is them just "making stuff up so they can kill Jarvis"? Certainly this particular mini-game mechanic has been in the works a long time, longer than the anomaly has been going on, and this is how the storyline was going to go no matter who won in Bangkok. It's just a question of how they build the story around what they want to do. They wanted *something* in many shards for this mini game (probably even wanted it to be "Jarvis shards" from the get-go), so  they built a story around that. Seems logical to me.

  15. This is what I call a x-faction operation. Here is my suspicion regarding storyline. Either way Jarvis is ressurected, for a different reason depending on which side "wins". After all, who is going to patch our scanners if he's dead?

  16. An update and hopefully a plan for the shard's safe passage by either (or both) factions: https://plus.google.com/104821221116551390464/posts/LHBKvbLxn8p

Summary: Both sides need to talk :)

Hey Niantic Project, NIA Ops and Ingress, you guys need to join in too :)

  17. Really?  Shay Moore Tony Dimmick  You honestly think that?  Let me ask you this...  What if the Resistance had won in Bangkok?  They would have killed Jarvis immediately.  Argue THAT.  Answer this.  What happens if the Resistance gets more shards to their location than the Enlightened? What happens if neither get any shards to their locations?  What happens if the Resistance gets 1 and the Enlightened get the rest?  I'll tell you the most likely course of action...  Jarvis dies.  It'll be a "Well, you didn't fully complete him, so he's gone." thing.

Tell me you don't honestly believe that the Enlightened have any chance of winning this.

  18. Nope, I don't agree. I think they would have TRIED to kill Jarvis...and he would be busted into 13 pieces. Same story.

I don't think EITHER team has any chance of winning this. I think that getting all shards to one location is nearly impossible. I am not confident even all the shards will reach one or the other destination, period. So they have a story up their sleeve which works no matter what happens. That is my answer.
