The "Elite" recruits itself, it's great to see growing a own society without the regular discrimination like gender, religion and so on.
We all know there are geographic variations between us (portal / player density) but it doesn't stop players from all over the world to follow their passion and make their personal contribution for their faction. That's what it's all about.
Some agents do an outstanding job in digging through the story, some agents are using their know-how in leadership and plan massiv operations and some agents specialized in decoding.
Well, according to my stats there is just one category which will suit people like me "the enforcer"!
Some people know how i started in february ( https://plus.google.com/117546583441103891268/posts/LLLup7SxFA9 ), living on a green farm, almost by myself and no experience (my first lesson: don't try to take out a L6 portal with L1 bursters...)
Anyway, i could manage to level up till the "elders" of cologne recognized me through my daily work. It didn't take very long till we started to organise ourself and broke the enlightment dominance in our area. Since we started to get organised you could see the difference between the agents, some wanted to do more than just playing on the way to work (which is totally fine with me).
It's the point which i mentioned earlier, it's about passion! I remember it as it was yesterday when i took out enemy farms during bad weather and my opponents told me afterwards that they were sitting at home wachting me on the intel and full of hope that the rain gets harder that i abort my mission, which i never did.
I remember when they started to build up farms coordinated to the public transportation that i couldn't disturb them and if i could manage it in time then they drove in areas without plublic transportation that i couldn't follow.
Of course i also built up a lot to mark resistance territory and luckily i never had to think about "stealing" AP, there were enough for everyone. It still makes me smile how everything changed because of the badges, i never changed my philosophy of playing.
Weeks passed by and i grew with my challenges, just the daily routine wasn't enough anymore. Our small local community started to define our own challenges, we did some cross faction art (Das 111 Link Ding), started to build up bigger and bigger fields and so on.
One day CyberLine (a though opponent) started to tell me that there is almost nobody else with AP like me, it took him a long time to force me to share my progress because i always just played for myself and didn't like "fame". Well, since then everything got crazy!
My contacts exploded and i started to realise that there is more than just my local area. During operation #voynich (Hamburg) and #cassandra (Cologne) i was able to learn more about organisation and all of the work behind the scenes. #Unight8 has beaten everything, luckily i "slipped" into this operation right at the beginning when we just had like 1000 L8 portals in mind. Well, it grew to our simple idea "go big or go home!" with the result which everybody should know!
(Niantic, sadly it's our policy to don't discuss in public what i gonna do with all this knowledge about the organisation theme :p )
A few days later when shard 8 appeared i was lucky to be one of the first agents in the morning who could push it in our direction and after i had to do some privat busines all day long i was at least able to do the nightshift and be one of the last agents who escorted "charisma" savely out of Cologne.
When i look back at these wonderfull months of Ingress, there are so many memories which i don't want to miss anymore.
- legendary stories were spread as gossip about me. A lot of this stuff i didn't know by myself ,)
- i recieved a lot of very positiv feedback about how i "grew" during the time they know me.
- when i reached "L12" agents from both factions surprised me with some small gifts and a huge P in the center of cologne. (Screenshot with 2 beautiful ladys is added)
- local newspaper reported about Ingress and mentioned me as the "best" player in the world.
And and and.
(Stats are made a few days ago when i signed the application letter)
