Christmas Star for Christmas Eve
It all started with casual key farming - to check (just for curiosity) how much of them portal can give to us. It is hard to do it by oneself, so one person was hacking and the second one was collecting them.
Distribution begun. From day to day we had more (trusted) Agents who wanted to be present at this action, so it was required to refill keys in inventory. After we hit 1000 of them, they become uncountable. We didn’t know how many of them are in the world, but we continued to do our work.
We decided that 22nd December 2013 will be our “Day 0”. We planned meeting at 5 PM CET for people who still needed keys (or who just wanted to meet and get a cookie) next to “Bee” - the “α portal“. There were a lot of Agents with companions (in number of 22), but we still are not sure what brought them there - keys or sweets. 😉
A few moments before 6 PM everyone gathered at “Bee” drove away to their assigned locations, so at 6 PM o’clock we could start linking. Every single minute the number of links was growing very fast, so a few minutes before 7 PM we reached 288 of them. Unfortunately at 6:50 PM two Enlightened Agents from Tychy made a conventional attack on portal α. Because of our Agents' support, who were recharging it and the local defense line represented by @e1q and @n0c0n, Frogs switched to their Plan B - they used Jarvis. At this moment (about 7:02 PM) Bee and all the links went down.
Fortunately, quick take-over and bringing it alive allowed action to continue. And so at 7:05 PM, second attempt - “Star 2” - begun. Number of links - like before - grew really fast. About 8:14 PM some of our Agents reported glitches on their scanners - none of the links to portal α were displayed. Every moment there were more agents with this malfunction, when Intel map was still fine.
About 8:30 PM the same both Frogs started their another attack. After 10 minutes of fire exchange, recharging and placing resonators they gave up and drove away. So this time portal and links survived and action could be continued. Number of links was still growing. On COMM and Hangout meeting there were values 481, 497, 508 and so on.
In the meantime on COMM there were congratulations from Agents of both Factions and statements of local Enlightened Agents (Dymion, Myszek80 -thanks!), that they will leave Star untouched during Holidays. There were also wishes, like: “[secure] ##### I wait for 666 links ;)”.
Number of links was growing really fast, 548, 561, 581, 597, 600, 606 and about 9:51 PM it reached 666 of them – the link was provided by Agent @Tom6ek. At 22:00 there were 681 of them, and it didn’t stop: 690 … 701 … 714 … 725 … 732 … 762 … 808 … 855...
At 11:24 and 867 links on portal, the third attack on the α portal took place. There were another three Enlightened agents who wanted to destroy our “piece of art”. When their regular attack failed, at 11:30 PM a Jarvis has been used for the second time. Before portal changed it’s color to green, two another links were established, so the final number was 869 of them. At this time “Operation Star” has been finished.
We would like to thank Resistance Agents who were not directly involved in Operation, but they helped a lot with preparations which included destroying links and CFs and not linking around the α portal.
There were also few Enlightened Agents, who (unintentionally) helped us by taking down blue links and portals, which wouldn’t fell before Operation.@MYszek80, @kesomiel, @deceer, @szatanczydiabel– thank you very much, we saved a few Jarvises because of you :-)
