The Continental #Congress in #Philadelphia adopted the "#Stars and #Stripes" as the national #flag of the #UnitedStates. the flag would be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation." #flagday
I like that they used the correct flag for the time, rather than the stylized circular one that's so popular but which so rarely saw actual use.
