Blue Diamond of the Indian Ocean
Sri Lanka has historically been known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” and is a cradle of treasures for its precious natural gemstones. Resistance Sri Lanka showcased their own diamond by creating the largest field in Sri Lanka and the longest standing over Colombo (the capital city) on the 12th of July 2014 at 1:20pm, and repeated it the next day (13th July) at 9:48am.
This is how it happened…
Operation: “Blue Diamond of the Indian Ocean”

Genesis
The goal of covering Sri Lanka(SL) in a Mega field had long been an aspiration that nestled in most SL ingress players hearts. Both factions had previously strived very hard towards it. This op had initially, just been a counteroffensive against the enlightened mega field forming from Pasikuda, in the eastern coast of Sri Lanka. Then agents pasindu007(Pasindu Kw ) and navin83(Navin Gunaratne ) together with other field agents mashed out a plan to create a field over Sri Lanka linking neighbouring big brother India and the sparkling Maldives. The groups met at the picturesque Viharamahadevi park to finalise preparation and exchange keys before the mission.
Chronicles
The lure of the silky waves on the pristine Pasikuda beach stretching for hundreds of metres into the crystal clear sea, seduced more than a few agents to volunteer to travel to this remote location. Resistance agent Thinir(Thilanka Niroshana ) along with his trusty lieutenants’ pasindu007, navin83 and yakaa(Yasiru Welandawe ) led team Alpha on a scintillating train ride of over 300kms to the Tsunami Memorial Portal, the cornerstone of the mission. The train ride by itself on the ever popular Sri Lankan Railways was an unforgettable experience.
The devastating tsunami that struck Sri Lanka in 2004 had wreaked havoc on the southern coast but miraculously many places of religious worship had been spared. One of these sites “Naga Maha Viharaya” entrance was secured for the faction by agents akunlumited(Amila Prasanna ), dishum(Hansaka Weerakoon ) and coolb(Binara Athukorala ) before the op and linked by agents Magamaruwa(Pasan Dias ), yohanzee(Yohan Madushanka) of team Bravo forming a pivotal link to the Maldives and the east coast. Though duty bound these agents did not neglect to appreciate the fabulous surroundings and worship these historical sites during their op.
The sacred city of Anuradhapura in the North Central Province, now in picturesque ruins, was once a major center of Sri Lankan civilization. The “Lion Pillar at Jayanthi” portal, claimed and reclaimed (the next day) for the resistance by agents INF3rNOz(Kalindu Sachintha Wijesundara ) and prasadcw(prasad weerasinghe ) served as a mini field and a decoy to mask the impending cross country link to India. Agent INF3rNOz in particular, injured himself cycling all over the ruins glyph hacking many portals in search of an elusive L6 resonator to strengthen the link range.
Meanwhile Team Charlie and Team Delta worked exhaustively to erase blockers in Chilaw (on the north-west coast) and Kandy (central hills) facilitating the linking across the country. Resistance agent pasindu007 also had to rush back to Colombo from Pasikuda (urging the locomotive on ever faster) to break a desperate blocking link by the Enlightened to India. The whole mission was overseen by map operators Dumira(Dumira Athukorala ) and Suzj(susitha janaka ) who did a yeoman service.
The Indian resistance (by sacrificing one of their own mega fields) and in particular agent CIDmoosa (who was on alert for two hours by the linking portal) deserve our special gratitude.
Finally on the 13th of July at precisely 9:48 am, the link from Vypin, South East India was completed to Pasikuda and Maldives by Indian agents CIDMoosa and vakman, bringing the mission to a successful conclusion. Sri Lanka was seen as a dazzling brilliant blue diamond on the equator of the Ingress Intel Map.
This mission is from a small country in the Indian Ocean, but we are a highly dedicated group of agents and #WeAreAwake . We stand for humanity and we will defend our way of life. But above all we stand for truth. This is what gives us the courage to reach out to our Enlightened brothers with a piece of cake and tell them, “It’s okay baby, it’s okay.”
