Cats and Dogs Living Together

An idea was hatched in a very relaxed no drama Brooklyn xfaction hangout to do layered fields together, alternating blue and green, in an effort to help stop Devra Bogdanovich 's portal decay virus.  We didn’t quite get around to it until after the deadline, but we decided to do it anyway just for fun.

To my knowledge, an operation like this had not yet been attempted in the NYC area.  We decided we would need at a minimum 3 ENLs and 3 RES paired together to complete a series of control fields.  Luckily our local geography made stacking triangles on top of each other without sharing anchor points fairly straightforward..  The goal was set, 15 fields.  Rules of engagement:  No rules or restrictions on mods, let it stand until sunrise.

July 31st began with a series of messages going out to various local RES agents to make sure they were aware of the operation, and to make sure they were cool with letting it happen.  Luckily our community is pretty cool like that and enjoyed the show.

Starting around 6pm clearing of blocking links began.  You have to give Jamie Flores  a lot of credit, he used over 600 x8s and 9 Jarvis during the op to clear out blue blocking links.  By 8pm fields began to form with Richard Thomas  and Anirudh Ramachandran  heading down Atlantic Avenue towards the Upper Harbor, myself and Jamie Flores  walking up Flatbush towards Grand Army Plaza, and Andrew Pollock  and Tom Hughes  walking towards Pratt University.

Things went relatively smoothly, only 1 lower level player who was completely unaware of what was happening, and probably quite confused, took down the smallest interior field.  Luckily with good intel support from Unkther Npwoni  and Maxim R  the remaining blocking links were quickly spotted and taken out.  Local agent kpants also came out to help Jarvis away a nest of blocking links in Brooklyn Heights and without her external battery @whafa would not have been able to fire the final link to close the largest field.  There was a moment when it seemed like the largest field wouldn't go up.  We kept hearing through the zello channel about whafa’s battery situation.  The last portal, Adam Yauch Park was built by puriyuma and Jarvis’d so that the moment the external battery arrived whafa could turn on his phone with 1% battery and shoot the link.  

The largest Field, ENL, was ~40kMU, 2nd largest field, RES, was ~31kMU.  Below is a complete list of field anchors.  Enjoy this awesome time lapse video courtesy of Maxim R
