Operation: Skip to my Blue
August 16, 2014
First suggested by elvin lubrin (@pinoyironchef) this operation came to fruition through the dedication of a fairly small collection of Texas agents. Having collected several keys for the Ft. Stockton portal Steakhouse, pinoyironchef suggested fielding the majority of Texas in true blue using an anchor in far South Texas. The original southern anchor was shifted to South Padre Island for a better angle to ensure minimal blocking links.
The 11pm checkpoint was decided upon with the idea of having everything prepped by 6pm, having the field up by 11pm and ideally surviving to the 4am checkpoint (wishful thinking but we could hope).
With the support of state wide agents, blocking links were quietly removed and by 6pm there were only 6 areas blocked. These were systematically removed by the sweeper teams with ease and expediency as the deadline approached.
Link Team Alpha (elvin lubrin (@pinoyironchef) and Omar L (@CopterDancer)) and Link Team Bravo (W Pietri (@Dablueraja), Arthur Betts (@kyokasuigetsu04) and myself (@entepanzer)) met before 6pm to confirm approach vectors and coordinate a distraction for the local "Enlightened". After rattling the cages in Austin, the northern link teams embarked on their journey to clear links in Hearne, Tx and to prep the anchor portals in Madisonville, Tx.
At 10pm, with only 4 blocking areas remaining the call went out to the state wide agents who had volunteered to clear links and keep an eye out on new problem areas to be on deck. At 10:30pm, the first link was thrown from Madisonville Tx to the Ft. Stockton portal. Link Team Charlie in South Padre raced through abnormal traffic to reach the baseline anchor point there while the agent from Laredo was held up at the border crossing to Encinal to remove the last remaining blocking link.
The first field was thrown as soon as the baseline was up. The initial field constituted 3.20 million mind units! And that was only the first layer! Moments later layer 2 was established along with split layers linking back to the first. Layer three was delayed due to poor reception (lookin' at you T-Mobile ) but was successfully established with less than 8 minutes to checkpoint. With the 4th layer being thrown by the father of the operation elvin lubrin (@pinoyironchef), the combined mind units captured was confirmed to be over 12.8 million, 4 new agents to be added to the #millionairesclub ! 16 cells were affected by these blue layers.
While having one's name be associated with a field of such immense size is nice, true credit needs to be placed on the supporting agents. Such operations are not be possible without this support. The linking teams have the "easier" job of simply showing up; the sweepers clearing the blocking links and the eyes in the sky have the tedious, time consuming , anxiety ridden tasks. None of this would have been possible without you and your efforts are appreciated many times over!
