#FoundonFieldTrip: Kate Shelley High Bridge
Iowa's Kate Shelley High Bridge is among the highest double-track railroad bridges in the United States, but that isn't what makes it notable. The story of how it got its name is one of heroics, adventure, and legend.

A violent thunderstorm washed-out the bridge timbers and sevent-year-old Kate crawled on her hands and knees across a 671-foot-long railroad bridge to save the midnight express and its 200 passengers from a tragic fate.
