Operataion Plan B - #IngressSitRep

Considering Artifacts #7 and #19 were stuck in India while #34 and #39 were catching sun in Indonesia, the obvious route to the target portal was naturally south south east. But a few of the crazier people in one of the seemingly hundreds of HangOuts started to openly talk about a Plan B. #OperationPlanB (never got officially named) started taking shape after a certain Roman Gollent /@Golro talked about merging the 4 Artifacts in Singapore then moving them on to Japan (yep the same Japan the Enlightened target portal is). Spreadsheets were created, documents written but always as a Plan B.
Unfortunately (should we really consider this a coincidence), Singapore as a merge point was quickly discarded as impractical due to the multitude of logistical barriers. Eyes turned to Vietnam but Bryan Pelz /@Pezster the usual contact in Vietnam was in the States but we were quickly introduced to David Appleton /@Phuctap who readily and happily (I’m guessing he didn’t know what he was in for) agreed to help.
Now Japan needed to get its ducks in a row, blocking links here, (ooh cool) mega-field there, but if we bounce here then curve there, then… YES, we have a route! Hawaii and New Caledonia are given a heads up that a crazy but technically viable Plan B is now in place, probably won’t happen but just so you know.
A few days later I wake up, do some work and then start catching up on my HOs as I do most days, when I get around to catching up on Plan B (pfft, yeah right), much later in the day, I note a certain change in tone. People are talking about Plan B like it is THE plan. Wait, what, you’re going to move the Indonesian Artifacts where and park overnight how then do what?!?! Huh, you’re going to move the Indian artifacts INLAND to merge then throw them DIRECTLY to Vietnam?! There’s a huge blocking link north of New Caledonia that is scheduled to go down but it’ll be another 24 or so hours after it get’s to Japan. Oh, crap…
David Appleton /@Phuctap and his chaperone Dung Phan /@GapRacRoiL are on their way to the remote island of Con Son to prepare the Vietnam transit portal.
So, the HelCATs (™) (http://goo.gl/G29KXW) are called into action letting them know there is a plan in motion and it may stall before it gets to us but we still need to be in place. Hawaii and New Caledonia are given a more solid heads up (it’s well after midnight their time), “we need to stall for about 24 hours at some point till the block goes down, if we do 17, can you do 7?” hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
After waking from a nap I find that India still cool as a cucumber and Indonesia parked on an island as promised. Crap, this might actually happen. “Go HelCATs”. (what’s with the cats?) Anyway, it’s a go?
Vietnam is prepping the transit portal like a boss.
Still working out the logistics on the Hawaii / NC side.
Team India has now successfully moved #19 to Vietnam and are saying that #7 will follow an 2 hours behind.
HelCATs Okinawa division is told it is a go, their mission in the 5 minutes prior to the top of the hour:
1. take out 4 blocking links
2. shave some mods off a portal that was kindly provided by our Enlightened friends
3. flip the portal
4. upgrade the resonators and deploy MODs
5. link to Vietnam.
Okinawa to Vietnam is suddenly blocked. There is a single speck of an island (http://goo.gl/bzig28) on the route between Okinawa and Vietnam where only locals play. Of course on this day, at this hour, an Enlightened tourist family who probably has zero clue that they are causing extreme havoc starts putting up fields on this tiny speck of land that we are barely crossing just half an hour before the scheduled jump. Fortunately we had a HelCAT from the island on-call just in case. He rolls but is just 5 minutes late. Still he takes out the block as well as a second put up by the same tourist family (which probably thinks the Resistance is REALLY intense on the island) this time just 5 minutes before the delayed op was hoping to jump. The whole op is pushed by 1 hour.
HelCATs Okinawa, despite being formed, remotely from Tokyo just the day before, performs flawlessly.
Much more details on the adventures of the HelCATs Okinawa division http://netply.net/archives/9078
As #19 makes its way to Okinawa, #7, as promised lands in Vietnam
really GO TEAM INDIA, read much more on the EPIC journey of Artifacts #7 and #19 http://goo.gl/jKMX9U
Also specific mentions at Roman Gollent /@Golro and Wei Yi /@wywy who both provided a continuous stream of Intel for the op through Vietnam allowing others to work on hammering out the path to the target. Good Intel is a critical part of a successful operation and despite being outside the path of the Artifact and not knowing the areas they were directing, they provided on point directions that kept the operation running. Both continue to work with Team Indonesia and Team India trying to pry #34 and #39 loose.
HelCATs Tokyo division has split into multiple teams again, 3 agents have been sent to Shimoda, their mission:
1. take out a multiple of blocking links around the Izu peninsula
2. get there early enough to enjoy some of the local cuisine
3. upgrade the transit portal
4. link to the Okinawa transit portal
5. guard the portal until at least the first artifact is passed onto the HelCATs on the Boso peninsula
HelCATs team Shimoda worked flawlessly as expected, you can read more on their adventures here: http://goo.gl/XlMuSC
#19 moves to Shimoda as planned and is replaced on Okinawa by #7, the link to Vietnam will stay up just in case #34 and or #39 makes it way to Vietnam from Indonesia at some point.
#7 and #19 were merged at the entry point in Chiba and this phase of the operation started 3 hours behind schedule but with agents raring to go. While planning for the post Japan portion of the route continued, chuta hundred /@chuta100 smoothly stepped in to take over Intel and kept things going (despite the original Intel persons brain crashing and requiring 3 hours to reboot) up to the originally planned hand off point.
A total of 18 agents participated in an EPIC game of keep-away until the rest of the route to the target could be cleared. Originally slated for handoff in 17 hours, the game went into extra innings. Some HelCATs assigned to this task ended up spending 24 hours on site in addition to the 4-6 hours of travel each way. Overall, the artifact was moved 7 times all over the 70km / 100km peninsula over 21 hours. Despite being just a 4-6 hour drive away from over 3000 active Enlightened agents, there was only sporadic opposition. Those that showed up quickly departed the field due to the sheer number of Resistance agents on-site (never fewer than 13).
Finally with the Hawaii to New Caledonia lane in the process of being cleared, and the Hawaii transit portal prepped, #7 and #19 were on their way.
Jake Joao / triffidstrike took the lead in Hawaii for this op and was able to pull together multiple crews on the big island. Smooth as butter, Team Hawaii received #7 and #19, guarded for an hour and forwarded to New Caledonia. They made it look so easy that it is worth mentioning that Jake ended up with only a few hours to pull his team together and despite this even put agents on creating diversions and sending agents to the transit portal early for inoculation.
#7 and #19 continued their adventure in New Caledonia but 18 hours after arriving in New Caledonia, 44 hours after the operation started, #7 and #19 were safely tucked into the target portal in Sydney. New Caledonia Resistance, Sydney Resistance, you guys are absolutely AMAZING!!
“Go HelCATs!”
