Chennai Connected Cell *#Helios** Sitrep*
When word got out that the city of Chennai, (which coincidentally, was celebrating it’s 375th birthday) was selected as a connected city for the next #Helios anomaly on August 23, the local Resistance community instantly went into overdrive.
The Intel team started scouting for potential anchors; backups and backups of backups were identified. Phone calls were made, normal lives put on hold; excuses were cooked up and items were exchanged.
No matter the outcome of the *#Helios** war, we were determined to do our part to win the Chennai battle.*

Pre-emptive measures.
Our first priority was to ensure that the ENL did not succeed in covering us under layers of slime before the first checkpoint. To do so, we had to completely isolate and cut-off the ENL-dominated city of Coimbatore.
On Wednesday, at approximately 1800 hours, legendary local agent @vidyasagarreddy prepared to throw a link to a remote portal in Vypin, only to find that some ENL had linked from Tirupur to Coimbatore, effectively blocking our link. As a secondary measure, @anishsheela linked the city of Trivandrum to Erode, thereby temporarily cutting off Coimbatore from play.
Meanwhile, while looking for a better solution, our Intel team came upon an extremely narrow window in Coimbatore through which a potential cross-link was just possible. @vidyasagarreddy jumped at the opportunity and, showing exemplary dedication, woke up at 5 AM and set off for Tirumala Hill, accompanied by his partner in crime - @psprakashreddy. Together, they managed to convince a guard to open an unused road for them and hiked to the only portal from which the said link was possible, saving 45 minutes. It was only after reaching there that they realized that the area had horrendously bad signal-coverage. Their patience paid off only after an agonizing three hours spent hoping the narrow gap didn’t close up. The link was made. It was 600km long and passed through a gap that was barely a 100m wide, cutting right through the city of Coimbatore. @vidyasagarreddy was not even close to being done, however; he started from home again at 4PM, this time setting off for the city of Nellore, which was the source of the only green crosslinks to the north of Chennai. On reaching Nellore, VSR took down the portal, threw a link back to Tirupati and set up internal blockers to prevent further green links. Undertaking a two-hour journey in a train that barely had enough standing room, he finally returned home by 6AM the next day. Suffice to say, our respect for him was hiked up a several notches.

To our surprise, the ENL managed to pull their socks up and get the links taken down from Trivandrum and Cochin that evening and, as usual, green links sprung out of the Coimbatore.  Luckily, agents @3ngineer,@anishsheela and @CIDMoosa had something to say about this- @anishsheela travelled to Kanyakumari to take down a green link and long-standing guardian and linked back to Erode, the next morning, @CIDMoosa rode to Kolar to remove the other green link and @3ngineer linked Erode to Gundlupet, frustrating the ENL once again. @CIDMoosa proceeded further to Mulbagal, linking back to the Bangalore city and to KIA, further isolating Kolar from the connected cell.

The First Field.
Having ensured the threats of Coimbatore and Kolar were neutralized, we moved on to thinking about making fields that would give us optimal coverage of the cell AS11-GOLF-09. After much discussion, the cities of Tirupati, Vizag and Mahabalipuram were identified as anchor locations for the primary field; while a secondary field was planned between Hosur, Tirupati and Singapperumalkovil.

On Friday, teams were prepped from Chennai to travel to Ennore and SpKovil and Mahabalipuram. @Derwats and @patchboy set off for Ennore. @KarSha, @sayandhan, @AllFlash, and @Adhithya departed for Mahabalipuram while @V3N0M41, @rahulramesh and @SaiKishore went to SP Kovil. Meanwhile, agents @AllIsMind and @redyellowgreen were in place at Vizag, and @vidyasagarreddy and @psprakashreddy were standing by in Tirupati.
Everyone collaborated flawlessly and 9 layers of blue fields went online without a hitch. Meanwhile from Bangalore, agent @SlickThief guarded the city of Kolar while @DoctorRV had some fun making 4 layers to Tirupati and SP Kovil from Hosur, thereby boosting our MU count further.
MU Count per layer : 5.5M
Total MU Count : 49.5M
Regional Cell Score at the 0230 checkpoint, 22nd August (ENL/RES) : 147k/34M

In order to completely nullify fielding possibilities from Kolar, agent @SlickThief proceeded beyond Kolar all the way to Palamaner, destroying every green portal on the Bangalore-Tirupati Highway, linking back to the city. Kolar was taken of the table for yet another checkpoint. We salute his efforts.

Meanwhile, we came up with a plan that made the possibility of the Mahabalipuram fields staying up beyond the night real - @vidyasagarreddy and @AllIsmind jarvised their own 9 layers and @Allflash, @Adhithya and VSR put up three layers instead at 1750 from the Shore Temple portal (which would be closed at 1800), thus giving our field a chance to stand beyond dawn.

At 1845, we were alerted to ENL activity at Sp Koil. @V3N0M41 responded promptly and was at the location within 10 minutes, by which time the ENL’s had succeeded in putting up a field. Keeping in mind that the checkpoint was at 1930, he then took down the field at precisely 1928, leaving the ENL no time to get it back up. And, being the good person he is, he then offered ENL agent @immy a lift to his college.

While @V3N0M41 was taking down the field, @patchboy and @DerWats were out all evening, linking coastal Chennai to Vizag, ensuring no green fields were possible.

Going Cross Country
At 1848, ENL agent @Knightwarrior was spotted near Mahabalipuram, attacking our anchor - The Shore Temple, even though it was well past its closing time. Despite frantic recharging on our part, he did succeed in taking down our fields. However, far from putting off our agents, this incident instead galvanized them into action again. We decided to pull out all the stops and make sure we completely owned the cell. Our trusted comrades and neighbours-across-the-sea, #ResistanceLK were contacted, who were only too happy to help and avenge the loss of the Colombo connected cell at the #Interitus 02 anomaly. Plans were finalized and decisions were made quickly - the field would be anchored at Anuradhapura - Vizag -Tirupathi.

Aiming to hit the 0530 checkpoint, SL smurfs @thinir, @MagaMaruwa, @pasindu007, @Dumira, @Chamith and @yohanzee set off for Anuradhapura late on Friday night, making sure not to bring any unwanted attention towards themselves that might give away their plans. Despite it being a long and tiring journey, they promptly arrived at the anchor well before the checkpoint and patiently waited for the cross-links to go down across the strait.

Meanwhile, teams were once again dispatched from Chennai to Ennore, Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram in order to take down a bunch of cross-links and clear the way for the Lankans. @pulsecoder007 *(aka the-guy-who-makes-jokes)* waited in an uncomfortable area and guarded the Kanchipuram portal for the better part of 6 hours. @AllFlash went to Tiruvallur and linked to Salem, making  a virtual safe tunnel for the SL-Tirupati link and nullifying any potential threats from Coimbatore or Ennore or Arcot. Even the suspicious efforts of ENL @killerspree didn't hinder our plans, as @AllFlash linked to Erode as soon as our Salem link was taken down,  safeguarding our chances.
However, due to a whole lot of unforeseen circumstances, all the crosses weren’t able to be taken down for the 0530 CP.
Score: ENL/Res: 2.9M/8.6M

But soon and in time for the 1030 CP, things fell in place and agents were standing by to take down every cross-link in perfect sync.
It was only then that we hit a major road-bump - agent @CIDMoosa watched Intel as an incredibly inconvenient green link went up between Pondicherry and Villupuram, making any sort of link from Sri Lanka impossible. Now with no one within a 150km radius of either end of the link, we had no choice but to tell the Lankan team that the 1030 checkpoint couldn’t be met, and that losing the cell was a very real possibility. The Lankans however stood resolute, resolving to wait as long as it took for us to take down the cross and encouraging us to find the means to do so.

While we were contemplating if there existed the smallest chance for the link to be taken down, @patchboy spoke up - “I can hire a cab and leave for Pondi”.  Our spirits soared once again. We could still win this. We let the SL agents know that an agent was en route to Pondi and they agreed to wait until he got there. The target checkpoint was moved to 1530.
The game was on again.
Score: Enl/Res: 2.4M/6.9M

The coast is clear.
The next few hours were spent nervously waiting for the links to go down. There was a palpable air of tautness. Nervous tics were being exhibited and fingernails were considerably shortened. And then finally, agents @sayandhan, @Mahesh7777, @natsuashok, @Derwats in Ennore, @Allflash in Tiruvallur, @pulsecoder007 in Kanchi @patchboy in Pondicherry and @redyellowgreen in Vizag took down all the blocks in perfect sync and the path was made clear.
For the third time in two days, a team from Bangalore consisting of @CIDMoosa and @SanpoKenjuu at Kolar and @Vakman at Chikka Tirupathi set up blocks that isolated the town of Kolar from the connected cell. The resident ENL responded angrily to our efficient blocking, trying their best to throw the right blockers for us.
Similarly, the SL Enl were waiting in Northern part of the island to either block us/make fields of their own for Chennai. Prompt reactions by our SL agents ensured the Enl were blocked for good.
The time finally arrived when we sent those messages to the Lankans that most of us will remember for ages to come.
Get ready guys. The coast is clear, link away.

And then, as Shahidheen Hamzy eloquently put it, the magic happened. Layer after layer of cross-country fields went up and waves of relief went around as the entire cell of AS11-GOLF-09 was covered by seven layers of blue. We had succeeded in making sure the connected cell was completely owned by the Resistance. The 1530 checkpoint was met, as were the 2030, 0130, 0630, 1130 and 1630 checkpoints. The fields held true for the entirety of 27 hours, handing us a comfortable win.

People say that we don’t remember days, we remember moments. And these few days gave us a lot of moments that none of us will forget easily.
Bucket loads of gratitude are in order for the amazing #ResistanceLK , without whom none of this would’ve been possible. And of course, to our agents, for being amazing as they always are.
Congratulations to our agents in Chennai and beyond on the handsome victory!

A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.

Expect bigger things, we aren’t done yet, not by a long mile.
