The beginning
Once upon a time in the southern part of Holland a group of Big Fielders was looking for a new adventure. Agent Rossovino came up with a gigantic masterplan of 52 layers which would cover almost one third of The Netherlands. Rossovino made a guess of 1.8 million MU per layer which would give us a total of 101.5 mln. MU. With those numbers in mind we started to work out this plan. Local Agents were approached to farm the keys that we needed and asked if they could clear a path for our links the night it would happen.
After the key exchange at a central meeting point in Den Bosch the 24th of September, we were ready to make it happen the 27th of September.
D-Day
After 2 hectic weeks of planning D-Day had arrived, 27th of September. We would start around midnight and had at least 4 agents on site at each of our anchors to be sure no one would destroy these anchors during our operation.
Now it was up to the cleaning squads to clear the paths, so the agents at the anchors could only do one thing, wait for a clear path.
1AM can we finally start linking?
According to plan the links should appear around 1AM. But suddenly some Resistance agents, those who not belong to the plan, started to link. This was terrifying because the team near that place ran out of Jarvis!
So the team at the Anchor in Venlo jumped into their car and met the other teams to hand over more Jarvisses. It was a nice moment to get our heads together and also have a nice chat to reorganise and finish up the last blocking links. Agents Wian, Boontjuh, JDX, CharlyGolf, Doobie4life, MediaDeo drove an immense amount of kilometres to finally get rid of the blocking links as soon as possible (but drove save ofcourse!). Wian even drove from Zevenaar to Valkenswaard where Mediadeo just arrived from Tilburg (and this is all around 50-60 minutes driving) to clean up the surrounding area!
Four hours later
At 5AM the path was clear for the first series of fields so we didn't wait any longer. The agents in Eerbeek (Fietspomp, Bacos and Diabolin) could only watch and hear on the comm what was happening until their linking path was clear. They sat down for four straight hours and hoped the linking path got cleared out to finally start linking. The first 7 fields did show up from the northern corner Eerbeek, 1.8 mln MU per layer. Now the first fields finally appeared and everyone got very excited and determined to finish up all 45 fields!
After 7 layers from Eerbeek it was up to the agents in Venlo (Rossovino, Tsukihime, TNGHT, Sp1ny) for the next series of 24 fields. Also CharlyGolf and doobie4life joined the team in Venlo after clearing their area’s to shoot some fields. But after 17 layers from venlo we were unable to link. What had happened?
Both our OPS searched the lines for some possible blocking links and found a short link in the middle of nowhere, so we just skipped one layer. 52 or 51 layers doesn't even matter in this case. Well.. except for the name of the operation. Operation and plan-b #AREA51 was born.
Ohnoes! did Enlightened finally show up at 7AM to block us?
But when we tried to link the next portal we were still unable to link. Was something terribly wrong? Was ENL being active already? Cause it was at least 7am and we were still not finished with this operation. Indeed an ENL agent called Mercedesgek did throw up some blocklinks in Terneuzen. Our agents reached for their phone and called local agent Garenor, who was already sleeping after a night of clearing. This agent came out of bed as quickly as he could and did clean those new blocklinks in Terneuzen. Our second hero was born and the path was clear so we could continue linking. The last 3 layers from Kaldenkirchen showed up and now it was up to our crew in Knokke to throw up the next series of 16 fields, all at an amount of at least 2 mln MU. In Knokke the following agents were active: SMX164, SandBiter, novldp, Jevi007 en mrDries.
Suddenly it wasn’t possible to link anymore. Was something terribly wrong? Was ENL being active already? Cause it was at least 7am and we were still not finished with this operation. Enlightened agent Mercedesgek started to play some ingress. We are assuming he was just playing as normal without any knowledge of the big fields. He captured some portals at the village Terneuzen and created some links between them. So he probably didn’t know he created some massive blocking links! We had to hurry and find someone around that area to destroy those blocking links and novldp knew someone who might be of help. novldp called Garenor who was sleeping! Garenor was prepared to get out of bed and start driving to the area where mercedesgek made the blocking links and destroyed them as soon as possible. A lot of cheering echoed over our communication channels! :D
With 43 layers up we were still not satisfied, we were determined to complete the full plan although it was already 8:30AM. So we had to hurry because our anchors were not immune to flipping anymore. Rossovino made the last 3 layers from Breyell (D) and finally after more than 8 hours of waiting agent Fietspomp did finally complete our masterplan around 9:30 AM with the last 5 layers from Eerbeek and all 51 layers were completed with an average MU of 2 million each field.
Special thanks to the OPS Sjo3rdmans and ParaNoiMia that joined us with this big operation. They were doing really great and were able to organize agents at every location needed, contact more agents and stay in contact with coordinators in field while keeping an eye on the Intel map.
