In a new USGS led study, scientists describe the rapid extent of American bullfrog spread, as well as their preferred habitat along the Yellowstone River near Billings, Montana.
The study found that bullfrogs spread both upstream and downstream from 2010 to 2013, and breeding sights almost quadrupled in that same time frame. Scientists also believe bullfrogs were introduced to the system by humans.
The study illustrates that bullfrog invasions in western waters can spread rapidly and impact native ecosystems if not managed promptly.
