I was lucky enough to be selected at the 3rd team member of the Charleston Anomaly Toad Stomper Rapid Response Team. Leveraging a crowd sourced helicopter, we were able to overcome challenges related to ENL controlled anchors in the local area which would have been impossible to reach during the anomaly event and would have resulted in durable fields. Experiencing the teamwork and coordination between the ground intel and our air tactical team required for this operation was a real treat. Our opposition played a fantastic ground and field game and made our effort a real exciting and relevant part of the battle. They even countered some of our plans with a chopper of their own. It was like playing chess in the skies. Thank you to my teammates and awesome intel team and to all the Resistance agents who made this operation possible and so much fun.

So... choppers DO count for #RAF David Bauman
ReplyDeleteDarian Drake I stand corrected!
ReplyDeleteIngress while in the air over cellular connections appear to be in violation of 47 CFR 22.295. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phones_on_aircraft / http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?rgn=div8&node=47:2.0.1.1.2.8.27.12
ReplyDelete劉煒 We used data uplink and Personal Electronic Devices to connect to said data and take care of business.
ReplyDeleteMind providing a link to the data uplink used? Thanks, Darian Drake
ReplyDelete劉煒 OpSec. Check with ENL leadership about your alternatives.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the tl;dr for 'we used our phones'.
ReplyDelete劉煒 I know that was correct, but I think the FCC recently revised the ruling (or maybe that's just up for comment)
ReplyDeleteedit: this is what I remembered reading/hearing: http://www.realclearpolicy.com/blog/2014/06/18/end_the_in-flight_cell_phone_ban_980.html
Last flight (3 weeks ago) the air crew did say we could use our phones, but not during actual takeoff or landing.
ReplyDeleteAaron Coakley , thanks for a) the link, and b) being a reasonable human being. ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like the rules are still in effect, there's no actual notice of proposed rulemaking out yet. Personal Electronics without cell modems are okay, though.
