SITREP 2014: NYC

2014 was a great year for the NYC Resistance and we had many great operations. Here are some of our best.

January: “Fields of Blue” Two megafields covering Manhattan and extending into NJ, totalling 1.8M MU.
“Back to School”  Multiple megafields covering Manhattan and west to the Pennsylvania border. 8 layers, totalling 11.6M MU.
“Women’s Eight Farm” The first NYC all-female level 8 farm event, with 12 RA8s in attendance.

February: “Alamo II” We fielded over lower Manhattan.  When ENL brought it down... we built it again! And again.  And again.  Many, many fields were created this evening, and the ENL joined us to party afterwards.

March: “Baseball” NYCR built a world-record* 1,549 L8 portals in an amazing 9 hours.

May: “Coffee” 14 layers completely covering 4 out of the 5 boros of NYC (Sorry, Staten Island) for an incredible 74M MU.

June: #Interitus Hoboken
An XM anomaly event in which the Resistance trounced the Enlightened 519 to 167, the highest margin in the Interitus series.  This was especially rewarding to us since this was a lower-scoring secondary site.

July: “Independence Day Field Art” The Statue of Liberty appeared in Alphabet city!

August: “Nightwing” The Bronx resistance created an enormous piece of field art (12.2km/7.5mi wide!) in the shape of the Nightwing logo.
Cross-faction fields The Brooklyn Resistance and Enlightened worked together to produce overlapping cross-faction fields in one of the most difficult areas in NYC to do so, the heavily linked downtown.
“Fire” 14 layers of megafields totalling 21M MU over most of Manhattan and parts of the Bronx, Queens, and more.
“I want more SCROLL” 8 layers of megafields totalling 20M MU over all of Manhattan and the Bronx and beyond.

September:
“S Doradus Variables (xFaction Star)” A world-record number of cross-faction links to single neighboring blue and green portals were made, with 1600 links in total (E666, R934).  It was also featured on the Ingress Report.
“Supernova” We built a world-record² 1,326 blue links to a single portal that was featured on Ingress Obsessed.
“Calvin McShard” We adopted a pet Artifact and kept him busy touring NYC.  He visited many sites, keeping a detailed travelogue on G+.  He ultimately decided to make Governors Island (the center of the Supernova) his final stop.

November: “Island Blue” A 9-layered megafield over all of NYC and more than 95% of Long Island, and a good chunk of New Jersey as well.  Total 63M MU.

December: “Holiday Field Art” NYCR left everyone a gift in Midtown.

We also had many agents travel to #Interitus Gettysburg (R:920.75 - E:484), #Helios Philadephia (R:364.8 - E:141), #Helios Baltimore (R: 230 E: 124), and #Darsana Hartford, CT (R:205 - E:135)

NYCR also saw a number of local agents reach L16 in 2014: 314159265358979, AdHocTask, drina, InfoCrash, IPCOP, itshappening, itzboz, JeanLucMcShard, JPNasty1, kpants, LotusDroid, mrmyxlplyx, PhoenixxKing, StandaloneDraco, and TheBladerunner

We also had many, many more farms, meet-ups, and other unique ops that we can’t list here.

Thanks to everyone who made our 2014 so amazing!  Here’s to more fun in 2015!

*Still a record for the Western Hemisphere.
²Still a record for the Eastern US
