Helsinki #Unight16 Report
A call to arms came to participate in a global operation. Something like our celebration of the first year of Ingress, #Unight8 . This time the operation leads and intel were designed to be new players, agents that joined the forces of #Resistance after #Unight8 . Initial schedules and first approach to trusted local agents were made. Like always people were ready to do whatever task they were asked. No real plans were made because we knew that we don't need them.
As the operation date was closing nearer some agents were getting other responsibilities for that date. So they decided to to have an eightroll of their own a week before the operation. Pone Klemetz sent out invitations and took responsibility of this extra operation. Laughing our asses of for the so called op that our local frogs were doing (Kenneth Krohn 2013 called, it wants his op back) we went strolling through the town totalling over 400 consecutively standing P8's in the city. For some this was not enough so they took on an epic adventure including 5+ hours of off road 'driving' (it seems that we need to buy some extra gear for your car Len Merikanto ). The catch frase of the day was 'We have a little farm - Helsinki'.
Then it was operation day and time for our small part of #Unight16 . Couple of Swedish frogs were hunting uniques in town, so first we wanted to clean some of the slime they left behind. Walking through town and enjoying the beautiful weather while building the first P8's for couple of hours. People were joining and leaving our group and plans were made on the go. We decided it was time for a small tramride to clean and make some room in our inventories. Then to a meetup to have a break and swap some keys.
Finally it was time for the roll to really begin to the tunes of Hevisaurus (http://www.hevisaurus.com/). Starting from the southern part we rolled through the city center making it our farm again. Over 200 blue P8's just in the central part of the city was a good start but not enough for our small group. We wanted to turn the Kallio area we were cleaning on our tramride to P8's as well. And so we did. One of our drivers was convincing his significant other that 'we will just do this one district'. Which made the rest of us burst into laughter. Our definition of a district might just be a bit broader than the city map tells...
Couple of hours later we were ready to release the driver because it was really time to stop for a lunch break. 23.00 is a good time for it, right? Our Jyväskylä hero left back home and our group split to roll through town to our respective destinations. The Ingress direct routes home took some hours. Second weekend in a row the town looked like it always should - a beautiful blue sea of P8's.
In total we built 515 different portals to a beautiful blue level 8's in Helsinki, some of them multiple times. And the number of P7's built were quite high too. Despite some frogs' cleaning actions, 12 hours after our operation ended we still had 316 P8's and 160 P7's standing in the area we rolled.
My thanks go to Laurent Bartholomé for the invitation to take part in this awesome action and all our agents that took part in the 8-roll.
