Operation: Petersburg Pride
It started out as just a friendly get together of fellow agents to tour the city of Petersburg and gather a bunch of unique portals. The goal was to gather as much people as possible and get them familiar with the area, in hopes of rebuilding the once impenetrable Petersburg L8 Farm. However, I quickly realized an opportunity to complete a mission plan I had been working on for a very long time. It was now or never. The perfect opportunity......
And so, I set to work a couple weeks in advance gathering recruits and going over the plan countless times in my mind. Everything just had to be perfect: The timing, the placement of people, everything. Everything was set. We had the anchors mapped out, the striking time, the imperative links and the manpower to accomplish the task. But then, the unthinkable happened. One of our main support anchors, Cary Cemetery, was taken out by what can only be explained by........ well, no one really knows for sure. But what we did know was that since that anchor was no longer in our control, we could not use it. There was zero access to that portal at the time, and for the foreseeable future. And so, at the very last minute, the anchor had to be changed and plans had to be redrawn. New keys had to be farmed and new routes had to be made.
Luckily, the team I had chosen to help with the task was more than capable of handling the obstacles that were thrown our way.
And so it began. From first light we sprang into action. There was so much to be done, more keys to gather, fields and links to be broken. The anxiety and anticipation was killing me!!
Between the hours of 9:00 A.M. until about 3:30 was literally all a blur to me. The pressure of this large op was starting to wear on me and I knew if I could only hold out a little bit longer and follow and trust the guidance of our proven Intel operator, we would be fine. Our "imperative links" were required to be in place at the time critical 5 P.M. closing time of the three parks. If any of those links were to fail and not be made, the op would be a loss. Without them, there was no chance of completing the mission. But, with the help of Intel and a steady dedicated team, and also a healthy dose of luck, we were able to pull off the impossible. We got the imperative links in place!! Instantly my anxiety and stress level fell to almost an immeasurable level. And since the three parks were closed for the evening there was no chance of those links being destroyed.
With this knowledge in mind, we all met at the pre determined meeting place to discuss the rest of the evenings op. We exchanged keys, grabbed some food, and prepared ourselves for what can only be described as one remarkable evening. No one could have ever prepared me for what we were about to accomplish.......
