Today I went after a group a small group of trouble makers. They got carried away as both sides did.....We need this kind of thing to stop...I at no time felt it was the group as a whole. If anybody feels hurt here we all should as this as a whole makes us all look bad and that's how I react.Sorry for any hurt feelings and I hope this is worked out and over with....that mean the flag page also.

Thanks Agents see you at the XXXXXX events

  1. I never thought you lumped us together, Joe.

If anything, the "us" vs "them" is the agents who love playing Ingress and the agents who love ruining Ingress for those who love playing it.

And I'm happy to be lumped in the Philley camp on that point.

  2. It's terrible that people act this way over a game.

  3. There were many wrongs that happened and continue to happen. This is a game, we all bleed the same blood. I just don't understand why the factions must be so pitted against each other. But that is only my opinion. I hope we can all put this behind us and be adults.

  4. I have lots of friends in both factions. At the end of the day it's just a game. It's always a downer when a few individuals take it to far. I'm just happy to see Joe Philley step up and say what needed to be said. We are all working on different levels not only in the game but in life.. It's a good habit to treat all people with respect regardless of faction or financial standing ;)

  5. I'll tell you from experience, "You're darned if you help, you're darned if you don't." But it's about choosing which battles, as I do not doubt you full well know, ol boy;)

  6. I'm glad we were able to resolve things, but it is still distressing how quickly things devolved into the usual faction finger-pointing and blame game.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I respect you Joe Philley it's nice to see you get involved. I wasn't there so I cannot post anymore than that.

  8. I saw something similar happen in Orlando. One of the resistance agents ran over and took something from the enl, as soon as our team lead found out (within 30 seconds), they forced them to return the item. I know people can get carried away having fun, but these kind of things shouldn't happen.

  11. :) glad to help. And thanks to the agents involved for putting this behind them and moving on.

  12. Joe Philley I appreciate you reminding us what our community values should be. We are better than what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Angela Hill several people spent the better part of today working to create a resolution to this. Let's not keep rehashing it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well said, Joe Philley. We need to keep clear, open and cool minds, respect one another, play fairly, keep it fun, and when this kind of stuff happens, the rest of us need to keep it teal and keep it real. ✌️

  15. It's just a game. Isn't it???? o.O

  16. Were the children who were reported injured ok?
Were any punitive actions taken against any agents?

    ReplyDelete
  17. At the end of the day we are all a community. If every leader makes sure their communities follow the agent code of honor will be easier to resolve isolated issues and discomforts. Thanks Joe Philley for sharing your thoughts.

  18. As always you say something not right I nuke what you said and block you.....

  19. Lacey Y if factions aren't pitted against each other then what's the point of the game. Whether you like it or not is an us vs them type of game. If you take it to far people will tell you, and if not your ingress family doesn't really care.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bryant Moeller then stay out....please we worked on this all day.

  21. Adam Logan You can play this game against one another and not call them enemies. I have friends in this game, I will not judge them based on faction, but based on how they are as human beings. This game is meant to be fun, some people take it too far. I myself am not one of those people but because I am friends with everyone I was cursed at and called names when I had nothing to do with any of it. But here I am with a level head, knowing it is just a game. #realtalk #dontjudgeme #justkeepswimming

  22. As someone who actually got hit in the head with the flag pole during the scuffle - #notALLfrogs #notALLsmurfs.

Big thank yous to those that spent the time working this out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lacey Y once again it's one side vs another. Real life friends mean something. Whether or not they play on the same side doesn't matter. In game if they aren't on you side they are they opposition. That makes them the enemy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Adam Logan That is your opinion, mine is different. Opinions are neither right nor wrong. So we can agree to disagree I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's important to always remember while we may be different factions in game, in real life we're a big family that loves ingress, and we should treat all fellow agents as such regardless of faction.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Joe Philley I still didn't get why did you point fingers in public, instead you just could have asked the POC Res who these guys where... That would have been much more deescalating. Professional social media management looks different in my eyes...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Torben Winter you guys yell when we do nothing and yell when we do ??? I do what needs to be done people were almost hurt people need to know about this.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Trocar Sorry but can you contact me...really not a happy camper.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If Joe ain't happy ain't nobody happy. Stop through Temecula and have a beer with res and enl some time, we will cheer you up ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Joe Philley sorry man, but I never said do nothing, and I sertenly don't yell at people...don't generalize me... Res and ENL players should get along better.pointing finger posts like you did doesn't help... I just think there could have been betterer/other ways to deal with this kind of situations. I hope you just remember this next time something soo stupid and unnecessary happens in the field.

  31. Torben Winter I will do what I need to do everytime!

  32. Dont think anyone knows me but id like to say. Glad everything turned out for the best. I've had my fair share of craziness while playing this game. As someone that's been a leader of a clan and Admins of gaming forums drama is everywhere and accusations and hackusations fly around at the speed of light. Ingress: HALO2VISTA

  34. Screw private contacting. You did the right thing Joe. Both factions need to see this crap happening, so both factions will wake up and admit that some of our agents are bad apples. Most of our agents are fantastic people who are looking to have fun.

However, in both factions, there are a handful of agents who are actively encouraging the rift in our factions. I think it's time we started putting them on display and letting people see them for what they are.

Additionally, I think everyone who thinks these things should be handled privately are the same ones who don't want to have to answer the question, "isn't he a jerk? Why should I go upgrade his portals?"

  35. Lacey Y Agreed.  Let's treat each others as humans first, fellow gamers second and then somewhere far down the line we can find "fun" faction competition; not hate.

We're just sitting across each other on a giant game board folks.  Let's not flip over the table and ruin it for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Adam Logan Factions SHOULD be pitted against each other, but ONLY on the alternate reality playing field.  In real life, we're all just humans; let's treat each other that way.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Chaz Walker you mean agents like you? Just because you aren't a very good troll doesn't mean you don't constantly try.

    ReplyDelete
  38. We need something in ingress. How about a mod you can only put on the opposing team. Maybe a mod that gives out more mods when hacked. Or a mod that gives the portal power to last longer until recharge. You need to create something to pull the teams back together. But create something with a high incentive. 39. Joe Philley Thanks for stepping up and taking a stand, for holding people accountable for their actions, and making it clear that if someone behaves badly they will not be supported!  If more people were willing to step up and take stand when they see people acting inappropriately much of the bad blood between factions could be put to rest and people could get back to just playing the game

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've seen Joe Philley go both ways on chastising, usually the faction that is receiveing the slap is very defensive and claims to be treated unfairly, I will only say this: open door is never a bad thing when it comes to violence or mistreatment. Personal game issues, yes keep them to your locals "ain't nobody got time for that!"

    ReplyDelete
  41. I understand going after them. It seemed a bit one-sided at first... but I figure a part of that is everyone already knew the ENL that chose to assault... and the need to find the Blue side of the coin was more pressing.

I'm sorry so many in the community turned on you. Even if the how and such wasn't 100% how another might have gone about it, anyone who knows you, Joe, knows that it's a product of your absolute devotion to the game, project, etc.

Keep on doing what you do, Joe Philley. We all love ya for it.

  42. Grant Barney

I'm only an asshole to people who are assholes to me first.

I believe in the platinum rule. The golden rule states that we should treat others as we want to be treated. The platinum rule makes the assumption that others are following the golden rule.

If someone is being a jerk to me, then I make the assumption that he wants me to be a jerk to him.

if you think I'm a nice person, that's because you're a nice person.

if you think I'm the worst human being on the planet, that's because you're the second worst person on the planet.

oh. I forgot the part where I also like to outdo others. if someone is nice to me, I'll be even nicer to them. if someone is an asshat to me, I'll wear two asshats when I talk back to them.

Ergo, if you don't like the way I treat you: take a look in the mirror. If you've heard stories about what a bully I am, maybe you should take a closer look at the actions of the person who's telling you the stories. :)

  43. You sir are a good man I throw an X faction every 3 months. In the Detroit metro area. So that ingress player regardless of faction can come and meet player from both sides. And its a blast to see player's from both sides sharing stories about ther victory and defeats in game. My big push is to show that ther are people behind the scanner and to treat each outher with respect.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have to admit that I have a real low opinion of those involved from both sides. The inter-faction bad blood has been showing signs of going critical for a while. Frankly, it's time for a de-escalation on both sides. It's also time for a little common sense to prevail.

I could follow this with a laundry list of bad behavior I'm aware of. I won't just because that would be furthering and perpetuating the situation, which is not my purpose in this.

We all do stupid things once in a while, let's not be willful in our stupidity.

One final comment. As you know I love this game. These events make me want to de-install the app and not play again.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Not me. I've had great experiences and a lot of fun despite the douchebaggery.

Even jerks can't make anomalies not fun for me. I love meeting new agents (of both factions, the friendly ones and the hostile ones--again of both factions.)

When it gets so bad that you just don't want to hear about it anymore... #headphonesreccomended
