--- Project Baconfield -
After several months of planning (or rather, waiting until the spring made it possible to go outside without losing a finger or two to the cold), Project Baconfield finally took place on the third Sunday in April.
The plan was to cover Gothenburg with surroundings under 9 nice and cozy green layers, anchored on islands. A week before the D-day, a new portal came live on Visingsö, which meant that 10 layers was possible. Thank you ENL agent @Sherwa for submitting that portal in the exact right time!
On D-day, team PelleMukenOfd00m (@muken, @Pellefant and @kittehofd00m) went from Gothenburg to Visingsö, cleaning some blockers and providing @Semilance with bursters for further cleaning on the way. Meanwhile, cleaning teams were taking down blockers in their respective areas.
In Habo, green agents @Semilance and @yido met some resistance from RES agent @Haccan, who was making blocking links. Furthermore, a blue field from Skagen in northern Denmark was blocking our south anchor on Anholt. Our Danish friends @zilveruno, @Sjanten and @Mujugapi took it down 20.20; at the same time the last blockers were cleared in Vänersborg and Habo, giving free way for @kittehofd00m to place the first two links from Visingsö.@wahots could then set the link from Kosterhavet to Anholt, thereby closing the first of the ten fields!
The rest of the links were created according to plan, apart from a small change in link order to prevent some potential blocking links being created by an active RES agent along one of the paths.
The ten layers gave a total of 5 682 771 captured MU, with a density of approximately 27 MU/km^2.
Now we come to the question you all have been asking yourselves:
Why the name?
Well, every dish gets better with bacon, doesn't it? ;)
Fried eggs for example...
- Operation Fried Egg -
Agents @Unitedcolors and @Olin77 were supposed to be clearing blockers, but it turned out that the link path was free in their area. What to do then? Go home and sleep?
Nope! Instead, they decided to use the cleared path parallel to the eastern Baconfield links to build three green layers over Jönköping.
There were still a couple of blocking links in the Nässjö area, but team PelleMukenOfd00m took the usual "short" Ingress detour on their way back home to clear these blockers, thus enabling @Unitedcolors and @Olin77 to proceed with their plan and capturing a total of 216 884 MU in three layers.
Great work and a big thanks to all involved agents!
