This past Thursday, May 21st Alaska Resistance Agents all gathered for the first Anchorage Resistance nuptials between Agent Zoelin (Michael Mardres) and agent Armygirl86 (Tamara Mannion). Due to the bride's military work commitments, the engagement was a short one, only two weeks! As soon as the announcement was made to their fellow Resistance Agents, planning quickly got under way for Operation: Holy Ingress Matrimony!
The decision to create field art was implemented by Agent pnatural (Troy Melhase) and the heart design was drawn out by Agent Emteeak (Kyle Tee) Many AK Resistance Agents and even a key Enlightened agent met up the night before the wedding to complete the first part of the operation. Myself and agent Cathodetube (Daniel Lent) were sick and stayed home to provide the much needed intel to ensure that all portals were fully deployed and properly linked to ensure the design was a success. All in all, it took about 45 minutes or so to complete the massive blue heart that covered downtown Anchorage. It was decided that we would keep it as much of a surprise as possible and present the couple with a printed and framed copy at the wedding.
Thursday, May 21st the BIG day arrived! Agents gathered at McHugh Creek for a simple ceremony that befitted the couple perfectly.Agents helped set things up so the bride (still on crutches from a recent surgery) and her groom could relax and enjoy the rest of their guests. Agent UncleBeldin (Mike McCabe) fired up the grill for an after ceremony BBQ! Agent Frozenrice (U.B. Fury) became "ordained" online before the ceremony so he could officiate! (Fun Fact....any adult in Alaska is able to marry any couple at least once by law...no kidding!). Agents Cathodetube and myself were in charge of pictures. All in all, it was the perfect day for the couple to get married and after the ceremony, an Ingress themed wedding cake, toasts and food were enjoyed by all! We also surprised the newlyweds with a framed copy of the field art that was created just for them to show them how much they are loved and appreciated by their fellow Ingress Resistance agents. When you live in Alaska, you often are separated from many family and close friends in the lower 48. The game has not only made us all friends, but it is like having a family of our own up here! We are so happy for this newly Married Resistance team and wish them all the best in their adventures together both in and out of the game! Congrats agents!
A big thank you to all agents that were involved in the implement of the field art and/or were able to help and attend the wedding. I know Tamra and Michael appreciated all the support!
Agent PNatural (Troy Melhase)
Agent Plinko (Jeremy Beheler)
Agent Unclebeldin (Mike McCabe)
Agent Cathodetube (Daniel Lent)
Agent Frozenrice (U.B. Fury)
Agent Arcticprincess (Cindy B)
Agent Mommamuk (Brandi Odom)
Agent LilTwistedgirl (Crystal Harris)
Agent Liltwisted (lil. Twisted)
Agent acruxksa (Keith Austin)
And anyone else I have forgotten to mention! I'm sure I am leaving someone out, so my apologies! Thank you NIA Ops, Joe Philley, Brandon Badger, and the rest of Ingress for making a game that truly is bringing people together and creating life long friendships!
P.S. Its my first time really writing one of these up to get noticed by Joe Philley so hopefully I did all the tagging correctly! If not, my apologies in advance!
