Operation OCD Illumination

Total MU 1.6M

Total illuminator badges scored 8, 4 silver, 2 gold and 2 platinum

When @AKITAINU gave me 10 keys for two portals in the UK and Norway in January and said contact @Mimtwin and plan some fields, I was grateful for the opportunity but thought it might take me a while to be ready for an operation over the great North Sea. Having been away with #Scroobius on many an adventure we were hungry for another ingress weekend adventure and a plan came together. Let’s go to Ameland with a group of fanatic agents and meet up with the OCD agents there @Panter789 and @Metz, bump up our unique visit count, do some of the 20 missions and do an operation. Woohoo!! And so the planning ensued.

Among some of the most fanatic Dutch players, the stats are so incredibly impressive but because they play in the dense city area of Amsterdam and Haarlem their MU stat remains fairly low. It became my goal to find agents who could benefit from an OCD field to acquire an illuminator badge and improve their MU and longest link statistics.

Lots of planning followed to ensure the sea would be clear and extra keys were acquired from helpful OCD agents. @TheJB thanks for the keys we were short of.

With just four hours to go I was unsure if the sea was going to be cleared on time. On top of that headache the team decided to tell me they had missed the boat!! Not funny @Dutchkrupse!! ;)

Half an hour later both problems were no longer existent. Phew!!

Then suddenly an unaware frog took down the field in Scheveningen early and we needed a blocking link fast. With no one yet in position and not  to give an alert which could cause an unfortunate reaction, we had quite a situation on our hands.

Local OCD agent @Panter789 put up a supporting link with the help of @ElAwrence and @Dutchkruspe buying us an hour of time to move everyone into position.

Meanwhile the team of local players on Terschelling were doing an utterly amazing job of clearing the blocking links fast without attracting retaliating actions from the local fanatic frogs there. We have a lot to thank them for and I look forward to working with that team again.

With 10 agents in 3 cars we moved along the 9 portals in Hollum from the west coast to the south coast of Ameland.

@Mimtwin got into position at the end of Cromer pier UK despite the rain and closed the first field. Woohoo! We had secured the North Sea. 121,85K MU which wasn't much at all but a minimum good for achieving those precious badges.

With all 9 layers up just two minutes before the checkpoint we counted down the seconds and took the all important screenshots!

Then we devised a new plan because while 4 agents had gained illuminator badges there were 4 agents who were close to gaining illuminator badges. We jarvised four portals and four extra fields were created to gain four more badges.

@Metz, @Tebbs, @rameland and @sameland gained silver badges

@Scroobius and @Dutchkruspe gained their gold badges

@SirMicrochip and @ElAwrence gained their platinum badges.

A great result!!

@Dutchkruspe's longest link stat jumped from 11km (which he was very proud of by the way) to 580km. Lol.

Many thanks to the team on the island of Terschelling: @CaptainKees, @HeroBB, @Tommyhaas, and @pederubels. You were awesome!!

Many thanks to the Norwegian agents who ensured the Little Brother Lighthouse was in resistance ownership on time: @MrRosk, @Sigbjorn, @BautaBjarne

Thank you to Dutch OCD agents who gave support concerning keys or the arranging to take down the field over the North Sea: @Elwin23, @theJB, @SSR13 and @SYLAR1984

Oh and thanks @Vashiru, the oh so helpful frog in Scheveningen for taking down the North Sea field! Lol!

Thank you @Shires for clearing blocking links over the North Sea for us.

Thank you team for racing at 170 kmph to make the boat on time, being there on the night in a sober state!! Well almost all of you (leaving a particular photo out!!), taking part with such team spirit and making this an operation to remember.

Let's start planning the next!!! Hahaha!
