AAR for Operation: The Philley Shuffle
AAR for Operation: The Philley Shuffle
CONCEPTION:
Before this summer began Joe Philley made a call out to communities to organize some XF BBQs and Sacramento was among many that jumped on the opportunity. As soon as the local organizers from both sides were rounded up, venue and date locked down, the planning began in earnest. While that was going on, the very next thing the Resistance started thinking about was what kind of shenanigans were we going to cook up for Joe. We always try to show visiting agents a good time and we know Joe loves to get out and play.
A week or so passed and someone made note of the fact that he had but a Silver Illuminator Medal which took us all by surprise considering all the places he had been and all the operations he's participated in. Nevertheless, we had our mission: Make sure Joe left Sacramento with a shiny new black badge.
Preliminary organizing started in early June, but with Persepolis PDX bearing down on us, much of the details were left until after. In Portland, during a clandestine meeting of that rigid military-stye hierarchical leadership the Resistance is oft-rumored to have, final arrangements were made to covertly transport Agent @Delta102 into Sacramento utilizing one of the many underground networks in place.
PREPARATION:
On the road back from Portland, in the middle of the night, planning jumped into full swing. Our resident map-magician, @TheLordFoo, perused his collection of unused field plans for just the thing to meet our goals. Given the current political climate and the impending XF event the following day, an easy decision was made to begin ground operations well in between checkpoints with a controlled teardown at the conclusion.
Recruiting took place over the next few days, most agents agreeing without even knowing what the mission was, such is the team that we have in our AO. #OpSec was stricter than usual, as this high profile agent is known to have many enemies. Once the bulk of the team was assembled and mission details ironed out, the team received the mission brief. The operation commenced immediately, each agent assessing the work to be done in their area and laying claim to the many tasks involved.
Lane grooming began in earnest as there were a number of highly volatile zones. Gold Country ENL agents had been highly active as of late and required constant daily pressure to keep that lane under control. Over the next week and a half the map started to take on the shape we desired. Almost every agent involved contributed in some form or another to that effort.
Meanwhile, key farming was handled by Agents @matler,@WAGONMAFIA,@ZombiePlanAlpha, and @MentalNapalm. Exchanges were facilitated in no small part by Agent @Dernic who acted as a clearinghouse and muled whatever to wherever necessary.
Anchor teams were assigned, and as we had many more keys than necessary for our primary objective, contingencies were drawn up to reap a number of other medals for agents already located at the anchors. Intel and communications channels were finalized, and systems checks completed in the final two days leading up. On Friday, Agent @Delta102 arrived safely at the safehouse in Sacramento, awaiting his escort by local agents @Ezio and @Unite8 to the southern anchor location. He was added to the Op hangout and not very long after we experienced our first video call anomaly.
EXECUTION:
At approximately 1830hrs local time, agents began moving to their assigned locations mindful of the the approaching checkpoint, knowing they could be redirected any moment to fend off an Enlightened field attempt. At 1903hrs, Agent @Dernic reported via radio that he had just punctured a tire and would assess the damage and report back. At 1917hrs, @Dernic reported he was back under way with his spare donut carrying him into battle. By 1955hrs all agents were on station and awaiting instructions.
The GO order was given at 2000hrs and all lane teams began clearing links while anchor teams brought their portals online. At 2030hrs Agent @LightDisciple created the inner containment field capturing 995k MU. As anchor teams began building and rebuilding all the intended fields, lane teams moved into position for reblocking after teardown.
Before all possible fields could be completed Agents @Delta102,@Unite8,@DragonRawrs,@WAGONMAFIA, and @LightDisciple had been awarded an Onyx Illuminator Medal and the remaining fields were a free for all. Agent @Unite8 upon earning his final Onyx Medal was granted Level 16 Access immediately. Fellow Resistance agents from around the globe, upon hearing the news, transmitted their congratulations and support.
Once their duties were completed the southern anchor team was released to fall back to the rendezvous for debrief and refreshments. As they were leaving they reported hostile activity by Enlightened Agent @nikkolawannabe who was the only known enemy responder on scene. The northern and eastern anchor teams were given the order to begin teardown procedures and as the field fell, lane teams reset necessary blockers. All teams were released and encouraged to meetup at the specified rendezvous for celebration and much needed bacon.
RESULTS:
Total # Fields: 24 by 7 different agents from 995K to 1.01M MU
MU Captured: 24,088,453
Medals Awarded: 5 Onyx Illuminator
First 1M MU Fields: 6
Field Promotions: Agent @Unite8 granted Level 16 Access
This operation far exceeded the minimum requirements for success. Every agent involved demonstrated the highest level of commitment and excellence in keeping with the proud tradition of the Resistance. In addition to the agents listed below, recognition is given to Agent @kenseysings13. Her efforts to finalize last minute details for the XF Summit the following day while fellow organizers were engaged on the ground prevented this success from being overshadowed by a failure.
