Operation: One Nation - SitRep

One Nation is the idea that we are all created equal and as Americans we need to come together to represent as a united front.

In the late hours of Thursday July 2nd clearing began for Operation: One Nation, which continued through about 9 pm July 3rd.

This was an operation, not focusing on maximum Mu’s or faction pride, but one of equal representation and cooperation.

After weeks of ploy drawing, contacting agents discretely, and hopeful desire, the SoCal Ingress community began to rally 5 days before the Op was supposed to occur. Instead of factions, we focused on a central theme: American pride, celebration of our independence, and a One Nation mentality. Both Resistance and Enlightened came together from 5 California counties (Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, & San Diego) to plan, promote, and execute the highly-ambitious design.

After 5 extremely long days of planning, key collecting, key exchanging across county lines, agent contacting, slight tweaks to the design, and some necessary sweet-talking Operation: One Nation ended successfully. The field art created a cross-faction American Flag spanning two counties in Southern California.

The main flag design covered 162 Square Miles (420 sq. km) across 12 cities in 2 counties. It required 24 fields, 90 links, and 50 anchors to create the star, square, and stripes. The flag area had 52 agents assigned to areas across both counties to help collect keys, mule them to the opposing county, clear existing fields and links, throw the necessary fields, and be on standby to take out potential sabotage. It also required cooperation of agents in the area, who were not active participants, to accept the operation and avoid throwing fields and links in the cleared area for 2 days (not a small feat).

Both the Resistance firework (in Inland Empire) and the Enlightened firework (in Orange County) contained 16 links, thrown from a central hub, making use of the newly released SoftBank Ultra link mod. Each firework had 4 agents, 2 from each faction, assigned to clear and execute the linking.

Some quick thinking and re-planning was necessary on the ground when keys turned up missing, rogue agents (unaware of the op & some who were from both factions) began taking out anchors, and two portals named “fountain” within 50 feet of each other caused the wrong link to be thrown (oops, someone submit a name change quick). Thank you to all who left your assigned area to deal with these non-expected issues.

First links thrown at 7:22 p.m. for fireworks & stars
Blockers from rogue agents began at 7:30 p.m. creating change in plans.
Links not blocked began being thrown at 7:32 p.m.
Scrambling to clear new fields & blockers as well as defending anchors began.
All planned fields and links complete at 9:23 p.m.
Operation: One Nation complete!

Thank you to the following agents for all your hard work to make this OP a complete work of ingress art!!

Thank you to all the agents who helped bring my crazy, overly-ambitious, cross-faction field art to life. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! You all proved we are #OneNation first and foremost. I am truly blown away by all of your willingness and dedication to make this a success in such a short window of time. We created one amazing flag & firework show! -@4MadHatters signing off
