Having been friends with @spookysquid for a couple years, we had always talked about doing a big OP together but as usual RL interfered. I wanted to alleviate that and work with my old friend. I reached out to spooky about a month before the events of Persepolis. Spooky, without any hesitation, gave me a “hell yes”. We agreed that realistically nothing could be done until the end of anomaly series (20/6/2015). As Persepolis grew closer, I was blessed with an overage of paid time off at my place of employment. I relayed this to spooky and because part of this time off occurred over the week of my birthday. He suggested we theme the op for a celebration of my 45 years of doing time on planet Earth, by presenting me with my Onyx Illuminator. Spooky went to work on that voodoo that he do so well. Persepolis being completed, spooky showed me and @NE1 the anchors that he felt would work. As to be expected many tweaks ensued. A wonderful thing happened as he discovered an almost perfectly straight line of portals to the north of Nashville in southern Kentucky thus giving us the opportunity to cover all of Nashville in glorious green 12 times over.
Prep AKA Let’s get ready to RUMMMMMBLLLLLEEEE!:
2 weeks to the day prior to our op, spooky and @coffeemancer made a late night trip to our SW anchor to farm keys 29 in total. 3 days after that spooky and I made a late night trip to our northern anchors to farm as well as we both had decided to share slices of my birthday cake which I will go into more detail about later in this report. Several hours of driving the ‘lap’ netted us over 180 keys total and an “Uhoh it’s the popo” moment (driving too slow, REALLY?!?!). critch and ENL momma to us all the lovely @padabelle were able to capture many keys to our SE anchor. Now the map watching and nail biting began. Over the next week and a half we watched as links and fields were thrown and dropped, chewing on our nails all the way. During this time we also began tapping agents for lane clearing. I was overjoyed at the response from former members of my Persepolis ground team and the local heavy hitters. Spooky was able to secure an elite team of southeast operators as well.
Execution AKA Get to da choppah!:
The day of our team began assembling in the early afternoon. Our game faces on, we set out. Zone teams dispatched for the wait till throw time of 2130 hours. My newest padawan (@peanutsmom) chauffeuring me, we proceeded on an askew trek to our north throw anchors, clearing some blocking links and trying to present an illusion of gaining my partner unique captures. We arrived in Kentucky at 1930 hours and began a series of dry runs to familiarize my driver with the route and collecting keys for her to throw back on each layer thus gaining her a good amount of MU. 2040 hours we made the obligatory McDs potty break and consumption of mass quantities. 2110 hours OPS made the call of all to stations. All anchors proceeded to their positions as the link cutting teams finalized the clearing of lanes. 2138 hours THROW THROW THROW. 1st layer thrown 773,385 MU, increasing to layer 12 at 778,591 MU.
@peanutsmom throwing back to each previous anchor along the way (cutting the corners) gaining her a platinum Illuminator. At this point we held our breath as the 2200 checkpoint approached and success we made CP. Now was the implementation of a maneuver we have titled “The SoftBank Shuffle”. The western anchor was ADA’d, recaptured and implementing a SoftBank Link Amp all 12 links to the north were rethrown to net @AlleyKat80 black Illuminator. This process was repeated with the east anchor giving @Padabelle black Illuminator, and @critch and @ribbonfae platinum Illuminator.
Conclusion AKA the mushy stuff:
I cannot express enough my gratitude to EVERY agent involved. You honor me and you honor the ENL as a whole. I hope that, one day, I can repay a fraction of your time and effort. My thanks to SCAoE agents @GreySentinel(Levar Pendleton) and @KILLAKAT(Sean Cozart) who took a 2 week hiatus in local fielding to allow Eastern lanes to decay. Apologies and thanks to agent @respchic(Belinda Beard) whose portals had to be ADA’s for this OP. In conclusion there are many agents out there that I owe a handshake, a hug, and/or a drink. If I have inadvertently missed tagging anyone it is surely not from lack of gratitude. (Hey 45 year olds forget sh*t!)
