On April 29, 1990 at 6:51 a.m. PT Space Shuttle Discovery made a smooth landing at Edwards Air Force Base after successfully deploying the Hubble Space Telescope. #Hubble25
It did the job but it was far from an "awesome glider" (which was the statement I was replying to)
The shuttle is an incredible piece of kit but I don't think I've ever heard any of the pilots laud it's in-atmosphere performance... Flying brick is more often the comment.
Soooo... Strap two J79 engines on it and it'll be an F-4 Phantom?
Maybe I should have said "Awesome bit of kit, that was not a plane". And, as a flying brick, kudos to those who managed to get it down from space to a small strip of runway. I remember watching the first and the last touchdowns live, and many in between. Even on the back of a plane, it looked cool.

Very nice and looks like everybody had fun. Originally shared by Nancy Moïse Haws Sydney takes the GOLD! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SYDNEY ENLIGHTENED! I submit the challenge among all my enlightened friends to play #Ingress and #ThinkGloballyActLocally Will others follow suit as others have before us? Will we have news of independent XM events popping up during Ingress anomaly events like those upcoming in Boston, Chicago, New York and beyond, during the official Ingress #Cassandra XM Anomalies? Below are excepts of an the initial report I submitted to our Ingress Enlightened Sydney before the conclusion #Cassandra there. Awesome glider!
ReplyDeleteDavid Bucknall actually, it was a shit glider with a 20 degree Glide slope.
ReplyDeleteThat's about the same as someone in a wingsuit
Is it still housed there?
ReplyDeleteAntony Jackson Try making a glider that heavy! It was the best of both worlds...
